mods schedule

I figured I would share my list of wanted modifications for my 2000 SE, which I will be starting to modify as soon as I get back home from my deployment to the Persian Gulf. These mods - obviously - won't all be done at once and some not for a few, or even several years down the road simply because of the complexity, price, and need for them.

Also before I do these performance mods listed below I will be putting on the body kit that I am buying from jdub, reupholstering the interrior (nismo stitched onto the new seats too), and having the car repainted in either Gunmetal Gray or Gunmetal Black. I'll buy some model paint or something to paint the molding inside black to match the interior as well. I plan on showing the photos as I go through the process with the painting, body kit installation, and reupholstering.

Anyhow, here are the mods. The list is insanely long and I am not rich so I don't plan on having it all done for a long time, but these are my *current* even if unrealistic goals! We all need goals in life, right?! Lol.

I give you credit for your ambition, however such lists do not hold my interest as the majority of people whom post the afroementioned seldom follow through with their intentions.

Seems a bit overkill.

In addition to Metal Maximas' statement...--> 90% of the people who post threads such as this typically do not deliver. Those that actually do deliver, only posts results.

There have been a few that have posted similar and delivered, I hope you will be one of those.

Good Luck

IF and when you do this, I would suggest to do the complete suspension first.

Don't forget to wash your car. Also, change the oil regularly. My 2cts.

I understand that a lot of people that post stuff like this don't deliver, and like I said - rather implied - in the first post, I can't be certain what the future holds or what might come up to derail my path... but this is still my goal and I will be doing everything that I can to get there.

I'm not trying to list every mod, not trying to out do anyone, and am not a crazy delusional...but I am ambitious and certainly will be doing several of these mods as soon as I get back. I've been deployed for seven months now and allotted $7,500 of the money I saved out here for modifications on the Maxima.

All I can do is hope that life doesn't happen on me in such a severe way that I can't complete all of this...and even with all of the power mods I am not careless with my vehicles - or anything I own for that matter - I plan on taking good care of it despite the fact. Hence why I am currently doing a lot of research on these parts and other peoples experience with them. That said, input is welcome if you have any suggestions for changes / improvements (like the suspension first suggestion I got already-I do pay attention).

lol, forgot to take that one out. I threw it in with the camber kit because they will be purchased at the same time, along with tires. At least they look nice!

heavy wheels make a huge impact on acceleration and braking. If you are going for performance, it's better to get some lightweight 17'. They will still look good but your car will be faster and it'll be more fun to drive.

Check this out: https://maxima.org/modules.php?name=30_comparisons

Edit: one more thing, S-techs are not going to improve traction/handling. They are just too low for maxima. For handling it's better to get Eibachs, H&R, H-techs or Maxspeed IMO; or just go with coilovers.

First, thank you for the input and even more so for the research that was done to prove your point. Secondly, After reading your comments and the information in that link - and asking people who have the H Techs - I am inclined to agree with you. Like I said before, I am still researching this preliminary information and I am glad to get the input!

As for the information on the size of the rims, I knew that the smaller wheel sizes would have been better but I didn't realize how much of a difference they made. After reading the information there I may even stick with 16" rather than upgrade size at all.

Anyways, thanks for the input.

I hope this goes through, we have a bad connection right now because we're in the middle of a storm and the ship is listing like 25º-32º on some of our maneuvers... can you say sea sickness? Gotta love the Navy.

Anyways, I decided to change the order of the mods after DrKlop's input in addition to the input I got from a friend. I also decided to change what wheels / tires I am throwing on. I'm going with the 5Zigen FN-01R's with Dunlop SP Sport FM901's to wrap them. And I will be going with H-type rather than S-type Teins. Any more input, anyone?

First mod set should be:

Tein H Tech springs
Tokico Illumina shocks
ES urethane bushings
Stage II Lower Tie Bar
Progress Rear Sway (or anything besides stealin')
Any Front Sturt Tower Bar

Why not Stillen? It's more expansive but I think it worth it. It does not require bushings and I believe it has wider range of adjustibility.

It is too expensive, sometimes 100% more expensive based on some GDs. Who cares about the bushings? And lastly, who wants adjustability when it comes to a RSB? If I could make it tighter than it allows I would.

You forgot the timing advance, UR UDP, and Brembo BBK.

well, I would not say it's the right approach for selecting a sway bar, tighter isn't always better. It has to be tight just enough for your car to stay neutral at the limit. (assuming that the front sway bar can not be upgraded)

Bushings do make a difference.. Without them the force will be exerted directly on the bar which will result in better feel, higher precision and more predictable handling. Also, keep in mind the bushing wear out with time.

I'm going with the catback and intake first because I already bought them before I decided to do more with the car. Trust me, the Tein's, Tikoco's, and bushings are next up on my list!

Some of this will depend on GD's as well. I planned on doing performance only to start, but when I saw the body kit jdub was selling I figured I would go ahead and get that now, while I could. As for Stillen being too expensive, I disagree. I like their quality, I always have. They're worth it.

Not sure I am even going to do a UDP, I have heard of them screwing up your engine and/or causing heavy engine torqueing that can damage parts. Timing advance, I may do. I haven't really looked into it much. Brembo BBK, that is a definite must but not until further down the road. I already have a new brake kit on the car that I put on before I left.

Stereo = weight, weight = adverse effect on speed, speed = what I want. I don't expect the Maxima to be a speed demon but with our weight working against us, adding more to it just seems kind of...counter productive. I may end up putting one in anyways, but I doubt it. Not really a priority for me.
