pcv valve question

pcv valve question

sorry im not really good when it comes to car terms, im a computer guy. what does pcv stand for and is it easy for a tard like me to change it? i got 60k miles on my 02 max. any info would help

It stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilator. From what I know it pretty much recycles exhaust fumes back into the engine for emissions and mileage purposes. Replacement, from what I've heard, is easy. Let me dig up a thread for you because I know there is one out there.

It's very easy except for the part where you push the new valve in. It took me about 30 minutes to change it. That's 5 minutes to remove the old PCV valve with the hose, put the new one on the hose, connect the hose to one side, and then 25 minutes to push the thick part of the PCV valve where it's supposed to be.

After all that work, it still didn't solve my fuel economy problem. =(
