Greddy exhaust

I just got the greddy evo II installed today and driving it home it seems quieter than the stock system. Am I crazy or is this what they are designed to do? I'm fairly certain I have a CA/FED spec 2000 max if that makes any difference. On a good note its fast :-)

IMO

The reason you can barely hear it is because you don't have a y-pipe.

I'm reading the big thread on cattman headers and deciding to wait for the new ones or maybe HotShots? I called Brian a little while ago and he told me that the headers were designed to fit on all 2000- and up, but isn't there a header design parameter that involes displacement? Do the HotShots fit the 2000?

500+..
Not as bad as my friends Acura whose cat back costs at least $900 and intake for about $300

Yes they will, there are just two problems. First, you need to relocate the front primary O2 sensor bung and second, the HotShots are designed for 02-03's that do not have an EGR system. Soooo you either have to plan ahead for this and have an EGR fitting put on the rear manifold before install or plug it off have a CEL for eight months, then realize you are close to inspection and need to find a way to get rid of your CEL to pass inspection...

Uh... Quieter that stock?? Did you have a hole in your stock muffler or something?

And you should either have a CA spec OR Fed spec max. Not CA/FED (both).

Enjoy your GReddy. I know I loved mine, except for the rust. But then again, you don't have to worry about that now, do you?

EVOII is stainless throught, I sold my EVO1 for I belive 150 bux bout a year ago. It was downright nasty after few weeks with my HS headers and test pipe... so if you are going to be doing headers- get some ear plugs.

I bought mine from raceinspired.com for $479 a week or so ago. They're still the same price as far as I know... =D

blue the sound clip of the greddy evoII is in the sound clip section. i have the greddy evoII on my 5.5 gen and it sounds great. i just cant wait till i put some headers on the car so then the car will hum from 1k rpm to 6k rpm then thats when the intake comes in lol

Yeah, that's what I was trying to point out.
I sold my EVO I a few months ago too for about $200.

I had a GReddy EVO I as well.... no way that was quieter than stock unless there was something wrong with the stock cat-back. That thing rusted twice as fast as my stocker too. Sold mine to someone down in TX, so he didn't really mind the rust too much.

And cat-backs don't really make these cars that much faster, although, going to an aftermarket b-pipe with no crimps and a straight through muffler does help a little bit.

Alright some good info so far, only a few questions now.
1) Are the components of any of the three systems interchangeable
2) Which silencer sections/rear sections are the quietest
3) Does anyone have a system whose sound actually works well with headers?(Frankencar?)
4) Can the muffler on the EVO be chopped off and replaced by anything that would be appropriate for a Max with headers?
5) Does exhaust wrap help sound insulation?

1. Cattman and Frankencar b-pipes and rears are interchangeable, even with stock, but not with the GReddy.

2. Frankencar is the quietest aftermarket rear.

3. They all work well with headers, just depends on how loud you like it.

4. I personally wouldn't do that, instead get a custom b-pipe with the biggest resonator you can find and that should help more.

5. IMO, exhaust wrap doesn't help anything really.

I recommend the Budget Bpipe. It has a nice Magnaflow resonator. Real nice.

Wow, sounds good... and loud!

Is the video a pretty good representation of the sound? Is the backdraw that big of a deal in person?

Also, any chance of an interior clip under load?

my friend got the EVO II for his 300zx (mind you, its dual, instead of single for the maxima) but it has a significant increase in sound, as well as power.

I personally like the cattman better....i've heard BBVQ and other EVO exhaust'd maximas.....it's a really sweet sound

I know with the greddy evo, as you put in more mods...it becomes ricey-ier....but just the catback alone, it sounds pretty sweet (like THE LAW's)
