Ah... the great suspension question.

OK. Heres the deal. I NEED a new suspension, and i cant decide between the ksports from the group deal or the original idea of illuminas with vogtlands. i need help on deciding, so consider this. This is a car i will be driving 30-40 miles to and from work everyday, i will be autocrossing on the weekends and tuning the hell out of the car (cause i get bored, so time spent perfecting the setup is not an issue). my driving style (and anyone who truly knows me doesnt need me to tell you) is very conservative on public roadways with traffic but HIGHLY agressive in empty parking lots and streets.

Now, all this considered, what is the opinion? Please leave comments after voting and include details. People with experience with either set up please explain or PM me with details.

Thank you all in advance.

-Matt

Maxboost: why dont you like the vogtlands? also, i wont be slaming it at all, 45-50mm MAX. half the year i live in Flint, MI which has the worst roads in the world and the potholes would eat the car alive if it were slammed, but it would be nice to have the option while im in chicago the other half of the year.

Anyone else?

One plus for the ksports - if you ever get real serious about susp performance you'll move to coilovers someday anyway. Why not spend just once now, instead of twice later. I was happy with my Koni/Eibachs over stock until going to coilovers which was the same vast improvement.

But coilovers are so stiff and unreliable... I think coilover are an option only if you have the second car to drive everyday.

BTW: BEJAY1, this is more like a quesition than a comment.

ive had experiences with both coilovers and illuminas/springs....

if u still need a decent ride on the streets and want reliablity and not worry about blowing a pillowball mount or a shock go with illuminas and eibach!!!

if u want flat out insane handeling go for the k sport! simple as that

I hear the ride on any coilover is terrible, so if youre driving on horrible roads then i wouldnt recommend them. If you're looking at springs, it also depends on if appearance is an issue or not. H&R are the best handling spring out there, but a lot of people don't like the drop. I have H-techs and I think they offer the best compromise between ride height and handling. They handle much better than stock but I have no experience with other springs so I don't know how they'd compare. But either way, go with Illuminas.
