Help please...Wider in Rear? (I mean WHEELS, not my girl)
It's time for me to start looking at my options for a new set of summer shoes. I've been riding on 19" Motegi Racing wheels for a couple of years and now it's time for a change.
I found a nice 20" wheel that comes in 8.5 and 10.5 width's with a fat polished lip. I'm not going to mention the specific wheel in this thread because I don't want this to go down that path.
Can I safely get away with 10.5 wide wheels in the rear with my Progress drop?
Sorry but I didn't do a search on the topic. I wasn't quite sure where to start.
I would appreciate some thoughts especially from those who have experience.

Why would you want larger rears unless you auto x it doesn't do much good on a front wheel drive car. My guess is you'll also pay extra for the wider ones out back???

In autoX you will want smaller wheels in the back to get the car to pivot around those tightly spaced parking cones.
As for the original question, usually its all about offset. However with 10.5 wheels in the back, your hard pressed for fitment because you want a higher offset to push the wheel in but will run into problems with the trailing arm. If you choose a lower offset to push the wheel out, you'll run into problems with the rear fender.
Consider it a expensive purchase if they end up not fitting or if you have to find ways to make them fit

take you car to a wheel shop and they can measure you rear hub, fender, and trailing arm. they have tools that allow them to see if any fitment issues will arise as well as the maximum offset and wheel sizes.

There is a guy on here that did have a set off staggered wheels(10.5" wide rear) on a 4th gen. I don't remember the offsetts, but i will look. I will say i would highly reccomend against them though. I mean mine just barely clear the trailing arm and fitt just perfectly w/ the rear fender. Although i am dropped more than alot of people i think it would look massively gay with the 10.5" because the rear would have to be raised so much to prevent rubbing. I wouldn't mess w/ them.

i agree with trying a 9.5" setup in the rear. it would probably do the job for staggered looks..if anything buy 8" and get spacers OR there are rims out (i think by axis?) that creates a staggered look for the rear when the width of the rims are all still the same...

Rolling Fenders
I have the Infiniti Coupe 18s on my Max and they rub when I hit big bumps or if I have 4 people in the car. So I plan on using the Fender Lip Rolling Tool to roll my fenders. I'm not sure if this will work for you b/c it sounds like your going a bit too wide, but this is an option. I'm going to rent the tool today.
