maxspeeds and tokico blues

i just got this setup for my 2kse with 65k on it and i am wondering if i made the right choice on springs?? before i install i was considering tein h-tec and h&r. i want a subtle drop with a stock like or better ride. i have stillen fstb and rsb on now. i am 38years old and i enjoy the luxary feel of the car but it is time to freshen up the suspension i dont want a harsh bouncy rice riding car. am i making the right choice here??? please any maxspeed tokico blues people please give me your input. thanks everyone.

i dont have maxspeed springs on my car yet, but i'll be installing them in coupple weeks with illumina shocks...But Maxspeed springs are giving an awesome ride, what i heard from, i've never heard anything negative about it besides that it dosent drop enough...But since you're 38, you realliy dont want you car way too low....But yes what i've heard from the springs are really good...IDK bout the shocks, i heard that HPs break/blow easily, especially the rear but, that dosent mean that urs will do the same thing...
good luck man

From what I found out it seems like Maxspeed and HPs are not the best match. Even though I don't have exact facts about either one of these products, Maxspeed are generally referred to as relatively soft springs and the ride is very close to stock while HPs seem to be pretty stiff.

Check out this post for some information about HPs: (lower part) http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=449807

I'd go with adjustable shock because that's the only way you can set everything up properly.

Blues don't mesh very well with Maxspeeds. I had them on for a year and a half and the ride was fairly harsh. I replaced the front blues with OEM and it feels great now. My OEMs had barely 25K miles on them so I'm not worried about shortening their life span. You've got almost 70k on your struts, so you don't have that option.

My suggestion is: sell the Blues and get Illuminas.

I have Maxspeeds and Tokico HP (Blues). The ride isn't what I would call smooth or comfy, but it is a drastic improvement over the OEM setup. Overall, I'm quite pleased with this setup, but if you're looking for a more "luxury" ride, you may want to give the Illuminas some consideration.

well the ride it is smooth to my taste. I'm riding with the setup at 3.. and it is really confortable. The good thing about illuminas is that you can adjust the ride to your taste as for the Blues you are stock with the factory setup/

I have HP's and Eibachs and i was suprised when the car rode like stock around town, and handled like a dream in the corners. I have front and rear strut bars as well. I could not ask for anything better from an aftermarket suspension set-up.

I think HP are a good shock for use with OEM springs. I have them with OEM springs and I am in love with the way the car rides and handles. The ride is well controlled and the extra dampening is a big plus. I got some vogtland springs sitting in my house now, but don't know what I am gonna do. I don't think I wanna pair them with HP. I wish I could keep the ride quailty I have now but get rid of the front wheel gap.

To me the maxspeed/blues setup is not harsh, but a def improvement over stock in performance and road feel. I chose the blues mainly because they are considered an OEM replacement and the adjustabilty of the Illuminas did not seem to be a need as I do not auto x, etc. Like the original poster, I wanted to improve handling, reduce the gap and not sacrifice ride. From what I'm reading, I think the main difference is not H&R vs Maxspeed, but maybe being able to dial in a softer setting on the Illuminas vs others - those in the know correct me...

On a side note, my wife just drove from Atlanta to Nashville and back (475 miles) this week and had no complaints about a harsh ride.
