Total Noob. Please help.

I recently had to get a "new" car because my 1990 camary died. Just so happens I stumbled across a Granny owned 2001 Maxima with 24000 miles on it. From the carfax all service was done at the Dealer at the scheduled interval. It unfourtinately is an Autotragic as you guys call them but I added a tranny cooler and flushed the trans with Mobil 1 ( thanks to the How To section!!!!). I guess ill get to my question(s).

1. This is going to sound stupid but how do I figure out what kind of Maxima I have? (ie. GXE,GLE,SE etc.)

2. Does anyone recomend a local shop to perform a valve body mod and while were at it what type / manufacturer of the valve body mod itself? I live in Bergen County NJ.
Thank you all very much. You are a treasure trove of information.

1. Have you ever looked at the back of your car?

2. I think Maxxtuning does valve body work.

Yes. The back has no bages other than MAXIMA. Where is maxxtuning located?

As far as what trim it is, what options and rims does it have? Do you have pics of the car that you can post?

Who cares? They all have the same specs and parts... only difference is in options. If you have traction control then its an SE or GLE. If you dont have a CD player than its a GXE.

If your tail lights look like this, you got an SE

If you dont have fogs you got GXE

There are other differences but these two are the easiest to spot.

By all the comments looks like I have a GXE. No fog lights, I have leather but no heated seats, No sunroof and 16" alloys. It does have a CD and cassette combo non Bose system. All in all I love it and for $11200 I think I got a decent deal. Thanks all.

If there is no badging its a GXE. I do believe they are the only ones that came with no badging.

Take the VIN and call Nissan USA. They will give you all the options that it came out of the factory with.

If you have leather, it is either an SE or GLE

what color are the door handles?
chrome means either GXE or GLE, and since it is leather, chrome handles for you mean GLE and body color handles mean SE
