CF hoods shaking?

those of you without hood pins on your hood, when your going highway speeds, do you see the hood shaking up and down? my hood looks like its vibrating at speeds above 50. it was put on by the body shop about a year ago. at times it makes me nervous, but ive never had a CF hood before, so i dont know if this is par for the course since they are so damn light.

i was thinking that, wrapping some sort of electrical tape or something around the latch, exhaust tape, etc, i was just afraid something could snag and i wouldnt be able to open my hood.

it usually starts around 65 or so, i see it lift up, and then it appears to be vibrating. when i say shaking, i dont mean left to right, more or less up and down. but i dont hear anything ever.

Wow, I thought i was the only one who had this problem. My stock hood bounces up and down when I hit about 100 KM/H and if there is a strong headwind it gets kinda scary.

I have the hoodpins on mine. I just feel safer with them. There are tips for installing yourself. Get some resin to seal around the hoodpin holes and pre drill the holes for the three screws that holds the pin to the hood. There are two holes right next to the headlight that are perfect for the pins. Use a red grease and put on tip of pin and set hood on them. Drill where the grease marks the hood. In my experience I didn't seal around the holes so I ended up cracking around them. But I have a backup plan by having a boat repair place seal cracks and paint the hood almost like Pearl's. I got a lot of bodywork to get done.

Put a few passes of electrical tape around the latch of the hood and you should be fine. My stock hook did that for a long time and after tightening everything and making sure that everything was down all the way, I got no where. I put a little hockey tape around the latch because I didn't have any electrical tape at that time and the next day I heard nothing, no movement at all. After a few weeks after the tape ripped right in the middle, I heard it again. Used electrical tape and everything has been fine for months. There was just too much space between the part that locks and the latch. I didn't notice any sound until after my headlight was stolen and my hood had to be repaired.

I get the same issue, but I don’t believe its anything you have to worry about. I talked to one guys that says he has 600hp in his car and has a VIS hood and not hood pins and other than a little shaking the hood has never flown off. I do get a like nervous about the shaking though and remember getting the same shaking from my stock hood too. Which leads me to believe its a design flaw with the aerodynamic.

KMC My stock Hood used to shake a lot, but now with my Vis Cf and My sparco hoodpins, it shakes a lot less then my stock hood that wieghed a lot more. You will really adjust the look on the pins once you put them on, because from before i liked it without the pins, BUt now the pins math my headlights because i blacked out my 2k2 Headlight Housing... But for me i wouldnt take the risk.
