inspection help!!!

Hey guys I live in NJ and was just wondering if anyone knew anybody that could get me through inspection. I have no cat's and full exhaust including headers. I am not so much worried about passing the smog test as I am about them checking for cat's and then not finding any and me getting a fine. If anyone has any ideas or could possibly help in any way, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Alfred.

I just put my car through NJ inspection. I have Cattman y-pipe and catback but am still running the stock cat. When I went through inspection, they did use a mirror to inspect underneath the car. They didn't rev the engine nor did they run an emission test. What NJ does go is to hook up to the OMB-II engine system and run a diagnostic. I know that they check for Oxygen sensor function and would presume that they check for cat function, but I am not sure.

It would seem to me that you would need a cat to pass this test, even having a cat shell to pass the visual inspection probably wouldn't get past the diagnostic test. Sounds to me like you might need to invest in a catalyst from a junk yard or another member.

With my background as an environmental consultant I know that the air passing into NJ from the West is already over the air quality limits, so even though cats may take away a few ponies, I think the tradeoff is a necessary evil, just my 2 cents.

well I have an 02 sim. so passing the diag. won't be a prob. It's the visual inspection that I am worried about. I don't know maybe putting a cat. shell would be the best bet.
