New hawk/powerslot install first thoughts

Ok so I finally upgraded my brakes and ditched the warped oem rotors. I replaced them with the Hawk HPS brakes and PowerSlot rotors all around.
All together with shipping cost was $525. Install price at dealer was $302. I think my butt still hurts anyway; the brakes are great. On the way home I have to come down a mountain and they didn't stink when I got home and they weren't really hot. Brakes a much more sensitive in a good way and definitely stops alot quicker. No more vibration when the brakes are on and rides smooth on the highway. BTW...I got them from tirerack.com

Ya, I would have put them in for you for way less. Give us another update also when you have a few miles on them. Nice!

I had that same setup in my 02 and it squealed more than a pen full of pigs!!! I've since changed to Brembo X-drilled/slotteds with Raybestos pads....which worked out GREAT!!! Sidenote: I have set of Brembo blanks w/EBC green pads on order for the rears.

Do alot of people that use the Powerslots have that squealing at first? I followed the breakin period and they were noisy. I just kept hammering on them. Seem to be quiet now. Always grabbed up nice though. COME ON spring, I want my T1's!!!

Good GOD MAN why the f%^& did you have it installed at the dealer??? You should of just asked a local in the local forum to help you. Anyways enough ripping you about going to the dealer, good choice on the pads have the same ones. They do squeel at first but they work the best out of all the pads i've tried.

They won't squeal if you break them in right. I have had the same setup for months now and I haven't heard any squeals yet.

Do you have the regular pads or the performance plus? I have the powerslots as well and ran the performance plus for about a year and a half. The grip with those pads were amazing but the dust, noise, and mostly the rotor wear were a bit of concern. I just slaped on the regular hawk pads and, although they dont make any noise and have low dust, there is simply no comparison in stoping power, I really have to stomp hard on the brakes now to get the abs to start working. The way idiots drive around here, after this set is gone, I'll probably be switching back to the performance plus.

Don't know what to tell ya. I had a shop do it last summer and they have been squeeling ever since. I am going to change them out soon.

Same here. I guess the Brembo/Raybestos setup does not require the higher maintenance break-in of Powerslots/Hawks.

If people are still interested in this set up. I got mine: 4 Power Slot rotors and 4 HPS Hawk pads for $440 Shipped from Performance Parts Store off the Internet. I called them and asked if I could pay over the phone and the guy honored the internet price. 440-473-0331 is the number. They may still do that price.

The rears, I just bought from Auto Parts Warehouse.

It's been a while but I think I bought the front Brembo xdrills off Ebay and purchased the Raybestos pads from Autozone.

Read into this thread to get the group discount for brake rotors and pads. Also there is a lot of discussion on which pad+rotor combo makes the most dust and noise.

I got the same setup but I hate the pads. They make too much noise toward the end of there life.

Oh to spare everyone from reading the whole group deal for rotors and pads, I got the powerslot slotted front rotors with the Axxis pads up front. Did they ever squeak and dust. I switched to PBR deluxe plus pads and have minor squeaks and dust. I just might drop on oe blanks with the PBR Deluxe plus pads. No noise or dust..
