if i want to put LEDS under the hood, can I hook them up to the thing that senses when the hood is open/closed so that when i open the hood they come on? if so does anybody know how I can wire this?

not sure why you'd want to, but if you want to...just get a pressure switch (like the ones used on the car doors) and rig it to constant power and the LEDs....

when the hood is opened, the switch would turn the LEDs on.

I just want to have lights under the hood for night time to show off the engine bay and parts inside....its just unique and figured i'd give it a try. never seen it on another car before, so your saying put the power wire to the battery + and where do the other wires go?

pos to pos on switch
pos on switch to pos on led
neg on led to neg

you can probably just ground it to bare metal or run it back to the battery
how many led's are you planning on using?

I would not advocate using LEDs. Cold cathode flourescent lighting will provide SUPERIOR lighting over leds and conventional neons for that matter.

i thought about other lighting types....but the leds are so small and i can almost hide them away. do they make flourescent lights in a very very small package?

Uh, yeah. CCFLs can be EASILY stowed away, just have to be crafty in hiding them.

Shoot me some info on this. Where did you get them, how was the wiring, etc. I want my trunk brighter. I've just put a 5LED bulb in, and it helps, but CCFL's sounds like a much better way to go.

You want the dual 12" computer kit.

Just cut off the OEM wire harness, and splice the respective ends into the inverter.

For the electrical wiring challenged, are you saying that to make this work as a trunk light, all I would have to do is to cut off the harness on the end of these and run the trunk fixture's positive and negative wires to the bare wires going into the inverter? What is the quantity and color of the light output like? Your interior LED pieces?

Yes. Plain and simple.

The CCFLs cover a much wider area than my LEDs, but do not have the depth that they do. I recommend CCFLs for the trunk because they'd be ALOT cheaper than any LED assembly I would make.
