hack off the muffler?

thought about hacking off the muffler and running it free-flow. my boss got it done on his 06 mercedes clk55 (stock 496hp) and it gave it about 25-30hp+. now i know our cars dont have 500hp stock but even if we gain 10... it all adds up

it wont be 10. the stock muffler flows very well as is. even with popular axel overs with almost completely free flow mufflers, the gains would low. perhaps 1-3hp in higher rpms with alot of noise.

you wouldn't see any decent gains...if anything, eliminating the resonators from the b-pipe would probably give you 5-6 hp.

Don't do it. I got a straight through rear section from Cattman and the affect is very minimal. I can feel the difference only at high speed at 5.5k+ rpm.
I didn't expect any performance gains when I was buying it, I bough it only because my stock rear section broke off.

even the resonators flow pretty well, the key is the removal of the two crimps in the b pipe.

People break 240 FWHP with the stock unit... I don't see it giving you gains that are worth the sound.

the only reason it got 25-30 is because it's supercharged.
