Otay,

So Im probably setting myself up, yet again, to get flammed here, but I DID search the forum AND the first 10 pages of google for this topic. I found some model specific info and some correlating info between some, but nothing that gives me confidence...

Anyway, does anyone know the actual procedure for bleeding the heater core? Ive got (had, actually, forever) that gurgling noise when I accelerate that I would love to fix sometime soon.

I have not had that experience with my 02. The cooling system should bleed the air during engine operation and cool down after you park the car. The heater has to be turned on so the coolant circulates through the heater core while you are driving. You would have to add coolant to the recovery tank once the engine cools down from operating temperature. You have to do it until the level no longer drops. That's the only way I know to bleed the air out of the cooling system since we don't have a bleeder valve like some of the previous generation Maxes.

 

Yeah, I found out we dont have a bleeder valve which I was like, WTF?

Anyway, I hope that getting this done solves the gurgling on acceleration. I dont know what else it could be.

 

Running the engine with the radiator cap off and install it after it reaches normal temp may solve your problem. Then refill it from the resovoir as needed. Make sure the heater/front defrost is on.
