i just started noticing this a lil while ago, but it seems to happen only when the engine is cold...when i put my car into reverse in the morning, the transmission [or whatever it is] sounds like its taking a loud breath, like seriously...as i pull it back into reverse, the car makes a sound as if it were inhaling...i dunno wassup w/ it, not really worried but juss wondering if anybody knows what im talkn bout...

yeah, i get it too. although not only if i shift to r.
if i start the engine and let it sit for a couple seconds, it will take the 'breath'
i always figured it was just normal operation cuz i haven't noticed any problems.

I don't know that I have noticed it but I will pay attention tomorrow and see. I have noticed though since putting 3500 miles on the car, it shifts into reverse much easier in the mornings. When I first got her, it was almost a battle to put it in reverse....Very tight gears or something, regardless, someone mentioned on here earlier that it can take up to 10K miles before your engine "settles" in so I'm thinking they hit the nail on the head.
