What is the 'auto entry' switch supposed to do? (6-speed)

I just got a 6 speed titanum edition 03 Max. It has the auto entry switch but I cant figure out what it does. I programed the seat memory and read the owners manual but it still doesn't seem to do anything . I thought it was supposed to slide the seat back when you got out and forwward when you get in but it does nothing for me.

it only acts as a cancel switch for the 6-speeds. when it's on, your memory seat buttons work. when it's off or on cancel, they don't work. currently there's something wrong with my memory seats, it seems like it stores the programmed position, but when i press it to move it to the stored position it doesn't work. i checked the fuse, but it looks fine. maybe i ***** it up somehow.

The auto seat positioner for exit and entry of the car only works on the AT models. See page 3-17 of your owner's manual.

On the MT, you can still program 2 seat position settings using the memory buttons, but those are only for when you manually adjust the seat and want to return it to either of the preset settings.

That's what I thought after reading the owners manual, so I didn't understand why my car has the switch.

Turn the switch to the Cancel position, and your memory seat buttons will not work.

Well, just thought I'd confirm that for you since you implied that you still expected it to work.

It was probably cheaper for Nissan to leave the switch in there for all cars rather than make separate panels for the AT and MT models. Doesn't bother me either way since I never use those functions anyway.

Sorry, I must be feeling defensive today. I took your post as 'didn't you read the owners manual?'

The owners manual is not very clear to me. It does not seem to say the feature only worked with the AT, but when I saw the switch in the car I thought maybe I misunderstood the manual. Seems kind of useless to have a switch just to cancel the memory functions, Nissan has no problem putting those little blank plates other places (like where the traction control switch goes).

Thanks for the replys though, maybe I can use that switch for something else and keep the factory look.

its nice if you have 2 drivers sharing a car. or if you go on a long road trip with a buddy, or if you like to take naps during lunch at work.
