power drops after 3500 rpm .. engine stalls during warm up period ... need help

I don't even know where to start here. My car's not been really good lately. First of about the stalling problem, during the warm up priod which is about first 15mins the engine would stall everytime i come to a stop. After that it'll be perfectly fine. I tried cleaning the throtle body 3 times already and it didn't help.
Secondly, there's huge power drop once i get past 3500rpm. The car would still go all the way through redline though but slow.
I did some search about VIAS issue that many other members here have encountered and decided to open mine up. It turns out to be fine the cup is still intact with the shaft. There's no looseness but I think i'm gonna apply some JB weld on there just in case.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a plugged fuel filter or bad fuel pump. Or possibly a bad TPS

Me Too

My 01 SE AT (87k) does the same thing. Above 3500 RPM it looses power, and if I don't let it warm up for 5 min. and get the idle stabilized, it'll die as soon as I put it in gear.

I have now changed the PCV valve, new mobile 1 oil change, new NGK plugs, new fuel filter. Once warm, she purrs like new. But still I have both those problems.

If you figure it out, please PM me or follow up this thread. I'll do the same if I do.

Ted

No, SES light is not on...
I think you could be right. Because I talked to DaveB earlier and he said those are the symtomps of a faulty MAF. So I went ahead and ordered one. We'll see about it next few days.

I had the exact same problems and a new MAF (also from DaveB) cured it all. Made it feel like a new car!

Update:
I applied some JB Weld on VIAS, let it sit overnight and put it back together few hrs ago.
Also I went to look for CRC Mass Air Flow sensor cleaner but couldn't find it so I bought the electronic cleaner (liquid spray). Since I just oredered a new MAF I decied to try if this cleaner really works. I took the old one out and sprayed it down for good 2-3 minutes. I tried not to touch it at all.
Guess what guys, IT WORKS !!!!!!!!!
The car revs hapily again. It's got the power back. I drove it hard for 20 mins and found nothing wrong. Gotta love the engine tone once the it hits 5000 rpm.

In my case i personally think that maybe the MAF just got dirty, not completely dead like some others', so electronic cleaner stuff was able to cure it.

Thank you all for your help.

I have the Same Problem but in the 4th Gen. I'm thinking it's the Fuel Pump. In the Morning I will jump in the car start it and throw it into Gear and the engine will Knock and instantly shut off but if I let it warm up then it's Good
