helios h3 mini hid fog kit owners please step inside

so i want to buy the helios fog h3 kit in 6k for my max from maximabest in the group buy section. just wondering if any who own this kit have had any problems? how long have you had it and any issues with them burning out, breaking glass on our fogs etc etc. i love the piaa plasma's but tired of them blowing; just want to make sure this is a reputable company and that for $265 they'll look good and last. any input is greatly appreciated and welcomed, thanks pat

Actually, HID runs cooler than halogen. I think you would be ok running the Mini H3 Xenons.

I purchased an H3 6K fog kit and a set of 6K HID bulbs from maximabest last year and have not had a problem. I was also blowing alot of PIAA bulbs before. You will definitely like the results.

how was the wireing? sounds like the bulbs fit houseing without modding/cutting, then you just must wire? Correct assumption?

The bulbs are a direct replacement. I just had to modify the wire that connected to the harness so that I could keep that connection.
Here are a couple of pics of the ballast and ignitor...

The 7000k bulbs will give you more color but less light output. I guess it depends if you travel on alot of dark streets.

to my knowledge maximabest doesnt offer yellow color HID fogs which are rated around 3000k, not 6000k. 3000k (yellow) gives you good visibility in rain/snow/fog conditions and the higher k tend to reflect back at you providing less visibility

I just installed the 6000k Mini HID fog light kit and 6000k DR2 bulbs from helios this weekend. The install was really easy and there were no problems at all. I ran these all weekend and they look great!

ok, it all sounds good then and thanks nismax for pics. it looks really easy to install. what kind of waranty if any on these h3's? i've heard 95% good things from reading posts there about maximabest but man oh man it's so hard to get a direct answer from him. ask him 3 questions and he'll answer one. i've been asking him for waranty info but still have'nt gotten a direct answer. but who cares because i've only heard 100% positive about the product and that's what really matters. he's probably just really busy. thanks for the imput guys.....

I have a 6,000K kit, and the Helios has a lifetime warranty. The kit is great, plug and play with everything you need, i.e. ballast mounts, screws, zip ties, extra fuses...etc.

What I meant to say was that maximabest does sell 3,000K H3 kits, and my 6,000K kit is working great.

It seems as if I am the only one that is having problems. One bulb started flickering really badly, got it replaced. Still had small problems with one not going on the first time. At the moment that one has completely blown itself apart. I have been emailing him about the second bulb with days between replies. One of my emails went unreplied, sent another one asking what happened, said had no idea what I was talking about. Sent another one to see what I could do about this, no reply yet. I like having HID fogs, so far it just seems to be a pain though.

That sucks I know mine flicker a bit right when I turn them on, but after a few seconds they are fine. Did yours flicker constantly? That sounds like a bad ballast to me. Anyway hope it turns out OK.

Mine flickers for about 3-4 seconds and then is OK too, I think it is simply a bad ground from the OEM fog harness.

No it was constantly flickering, and it started changing colors. The passenger side started going the normal blue, while the bad side got more and more white and dim. I got a new bulb and that fixed that side. Now the passenger side completely blew itself up.

Keep in mind that maximabest is probably a reseller for Helios. We place an order from him, he places an order to the factory in Taiwan. I wouldn't be surprised that he has difficulty in getting replacement parts.

ah man sorry to hear it. even if it does take time to get parts, he should still drop you a line to at least let you know what is going on. hummm i have to think about this one for a while. even though you are the only one that has a persistent problem. only about 3 replied and said they were good. 75% success rate does'nt sound too good to me.
