Headlight Question 00/01 w/Projectors

Hey
I am kinda annoyed cause my PIAA headlights have both stopped working and I am sick of driving and not seeing the road like I would like to. Being that I live in new york, I never wanted to get HIDs since I park in those areas sometimes when I have no choice.

Heres my question, I would like to open my headlights to do the AE mod and I kinda thought that I could install projectors. I was thinking something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-5...53893446QQrdZ1

Now I do not know what I am talking about, this is new to me. Can this be done, I am not intrested in getting 02-03 headlights. Crooks know that those headlights come with HIDs and thats the first thing they look at.

I know someone who put projectors on their 98 maxima and it looked really good.

Please let me know your opinions.

Gene

one place that has a lot of experence with maxima and projector retros ishttp://www.customlightz.com Check them out Just a side note if you are interested in doing the mod yourself. AcuraTL ans TSX/honda s2000 have for the most part the best projectors in teh business. They are productedd by stanley. The color seperation and cutoffs are amazing. Good luck in the project keep me posted because I am interested in the mod but I am low on the green right now.

Everyone, thanks for the reply! Now that I know it has been done, I am doing it!

I actually found a few TSX/Honda S2000 projectors on ebay for a decent price. Now I need to figure out how to fit it into the headlight.

I will try and contact Dr. Roy right now.

I found this very old thread by Dr. Roy:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ight=projector

Is there a set of instructions how to do any retrofit so I can get a little idea of what will need to be done.

So you don't want HIDs but you are getting TSX projectors? Or did you decide to go through with the HID plan?

oh ok... cause from your first post it sounded like you were avoiding HIDs. His retro looks sick. Even if you dont' do HIDs, you can get the stock mdx projectors and run h9 bulbs. The h9's actually lit up the road pretty well. Just remember, its all in the bezel.

make sure you learn how to make a wiring harness for the HIDs
you don't want a fire to happen!

i think I have been lucky and not had a fire happen in my car. I think partly is because the start up for my ballast last a fraction for a second and that the continuous wattage that the ballast draws is 35watts while the stock h4 bulbs are a continuous 80 watts. I should make a harness for extra measures of safety though.
