can't find how to fix "EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve Circuit Open"
the code has been on for a year now... i ignored it cause the car ran fine, but after my MAF blew last week, figured maybe I should take care of this. How do i go about closing the valve circuit? Thanks
ps its code 0447.
ps its code 0447.
From the FSM if it helps:
The EVAP canister vent control valve is located on the EVAP canister
and is used to seal the canister vent.
This solenoid valve responds to signals from the ECM. When the
ECM sends an ON signal, the coil in the solenoid valve is energized.
A plunger will then move to seal the canister vent. The ability
to seal the vent is necessary for the on board diagnosis of other
evaporative emission control system components.
This solenoid valve is used only for diagnosis, and usually remains
opened.
When the vent is closed, under normal purge conditions, the
evaporative emission control system is depressurized and allows
“EVAP Control System (Small Leak)” diagnosis.

i just replaced the valve. its around $85-100 for the part. took less than an hour to replace it. i was getting different codes. gross evap leak, and somethng else. i think its because the fumes corrode the valve components, and it gets stuck in the "open" position.
