Gauge Bezels

I'm lookin to maybe get a brushed alum. bezel and chrome gauge rings. I know cm.com has them, but they also want 21+ bucks for shipping. Anyone know of another site i could order from? I've done yahoo searches out the wazoo and can't really find much. tia

is a cheaper ebay bezel just as good? like this one?

Yeah, I just ordered one from that eBay seller to see what they're like. I should get it in a few days. I bought the Oxford Burlwood from CustomEnterprise a few years back and just got tired of the look. I need a change of look in my interior. I'll post pics after the install for opinions.

No, not yet. I got an email from the seller yesterday and he said it may take up to a week to ship. So, I probably won't see it until early next week. Thanks!

Received the bezel today. I ordered the polished stainless steel one. The bezel itself is of great quality, real stainless steel metal! The only thing I don't like about it is that they only give you a thin strip of 3M to adhere to the back for the install....not like the other ones where the tape is already on the back cut to size of the bezel. Another thing, I'm not quite feeling the polished stainless steel...I might e-mail the seller and exchange it for the brushed aluminum. I had the brushed aluminum in my
'95 when I had it and it looked good.

thanks for the post mixxmax. I guess it's a good thing they never pick up their phones, cause i called them a ton today to try and order the stainless one. But after reading your post, i'll give the aluminum one a try on monday. Glad to hear they are well-made. We need to buy some extra 2-sided tape huh? Is the pic you have of a polished stainless or a brushed stainless? i can't find a polished one on their site. Is it as black as it looks? I ordered my gauge rings today from ce.com. They gave me free shipping so i guess that's a plus. I hope to get my bezel sometime before dead week next week so that i can spend an afternoon gettin everything put in. Studying is overrated! thanks again, mixxmax

Yeah, it only appers black because of the camera shot. It's actually "polished" stainless steel (like chrome). The seller only gives you about a thin foot of tape to install these. (Actually, it doesn't take alot to hold down the bezel if the bezel is well cut to size to fit into the trim.) Still waiting to hear from the seller. Hmmph.

they FINALLY picked up their phones! just ordered a brushed aluminum one, & it will be here in 2-3 days they said. Bout time!

Also, about the connectors on the back of the gauges... are they different from one another? In other words, do i need to remember which one goes where, or will each one only plug into one specific plug? And i have auto a/c, will that present any problems?

Chrome Gauge rings with white faces without the Bezel looks alot better IMO.

Yes they are different, and yes you will figure it out once you pull the cluster out.

i got my gauge rings in the mail on friday, and am hoping to get my bezel tomorrow. Once i get the cluster out, i just stick the bezel on to the existing black stuff around the gauges, and then shove the rings in there, right? No need to remove the black bezel, correct? I'm pumped as heck to do this!

Correct! Just a word of warning I did this on my 4th gen with a CF bezel and although it fit in the stock bezel area no problem, the chrome rings didn't sit well over the CF bezel I had to do a bunch of trimming on the CF ( ebay) bezel and the rings never stuck as well after that, so try do some test fitting before you install the bezel, I have pics on my domain.

Here's a pic of my Chrome rings on my 5th gen, IMO the rings look better without a light coloured bezel as the rings get drowned out. 2cents

If you're talking about CE, good luck! Yeah, they have terrible customer service. That is why I don't buy from there anymore. Their communication is terrible! I ordered a guage bezel from there 3 years ago, and it took almost 3-4 weeks to get it.

Wow! Really? I have had numerous e-mail communications with fire-and-ice. At first, I was going to exchange it for the aluminum, but then I had changed my mind and returned the bezel all together. They were very sympathetic. I plan on buying another dash kit soon, but I'm undecided on what color to get. (Tan interiors suck!)

No, I was talking about GigEmAgs07 ordering from CE. I was just explaining my experience with CE. (Evidently, he didn't order his bezel from there). But, we did both recently order our bezels thru Fire-and-Ice. Now, he is having problems contacting and receiving his product, whereas I didn't. It took about a week to get my bezel from Fire-and-Ice, without any communication problems. Comprende?

MAXRB8, where did you buy your rings? The reason I'm asking is because I bought a set half a year ago and it was a clip on style. They didn't fit at all. Instead I just messed up my cluster.
How do they hold, by using black adhesive in the back? Did you remove 2 stock rings that outline speedo and tach?

Got them from Paradox, yes black adhesive, over the top of the 2 stock rings, went on beautifully, perfect fit and have not come off. Paradox seems to have quality products. Considering their illuminated "Maxima" door sills ( currently on group buy) and the LED side mirror covers. Any one have the mirrors installed?

so yet again, i finally got fireandice to pick up their phones this afternoon. The chick told me that somehow my package never actually made it to shipping. She said it looked like they had run my credit card, but it never got processed as an order. what a frustrating purchase... considering i was supposed to have it last week. oh well... life ain't all that bad.

Looks good! Now, I wish I had exchanged for the brushed aluminum like I was going to. Instead, I just returned the polished stainless steel one for a refund (still waiting on my money, BTW). How was the install? Did they also provide you with one strip of adhesive tape? How is the quality of metal? Overall, it looks nice, except you almost double my mileage for a 2k.

Mixxmax... the installation was cake. Gettin the a/c tube thing off was kinda a pain because the screw to release it was a pita to get to. Other than that it was a piece of cake. The bezel is good quality... the backside is a little rougher than the front, but it doesn't really matter cause you won't ever see it. Definitely a slick change to the max... It came with about 10 inches of double-sided tape, i think i used about 8 of them. Go get yourself one man, it'll make ya grin!
