place racing cai

Anyone have photos of this installed on 5.5 gen? Just curious as to where the filter ends up? Seems to me that if you put air filter in the wheel well tire spray should gunk that sucker up pretty good. Or is it louvered? If you have photos under hood and in wheel well I'd appreciate it. Thanks guys

it places it behind the wheel well liner, there is no "direct" spray.

why are there so many $%^&* on this forum? In the time it took you to be a jerk you could have answered the question... $%^&s like you make me want to ask for my 20 bucks back. Ain't worth it.

try searching this forum for "place racing photos" and you will get 5 hits. HOly MOTHER OF GOD thats a lot of info which has nothing to do what I am looking for. I asked nicely for afew pictures of this installed in a car. I've seen the photos on the website which are completely useless.

You would think you'd know a little bit more about a CAI since you HAVE ONE according to your sig in the first post

I realize that my ranting in the forum isn;t exactly a smart thing to do, and if everyone wants to get pissed off at me so be it. There are a lot of good people in here but since I joined up it seems that there are a lot more a-holes than good ones. I've been to hundreds of forums and I have never seen so many people who are unwilling to help. Isnt that the point? Do you know how many dead threads there are in the how to's? There must be at least 10%. Probably more. Including the place racing how to. So, my apologies to most of you, especially the helpful ones, guys like puppetmaster. Geez.... 21 posts and still no photo...

Here's the intake. Imagine it on your car. Another comment like the one above, and you'll be on vacation for a few weeks.

I already found that on the site. I'm just trying to figure some things, 1 or 2 which have been answered. An installed photo would be better, but since it doesn't seem to exist I will ask all the little questions that will probably tick off all the veterans in here.
1) Supposedly you have to drill a 3" or so hole in the engine compartment leading to the wheel housing. If that is the case how do you get the filter on and off? I at first assumed it was exposed to the wheel but someone was kind enough to point out that it is not exposed to the rain.
2)I'm assuming the filter is bigger than the hole?
3) I'm trying to get an idea of where to drill the hole because i think I can take my injen parts and perhaps bend a few pieces of pipe (yes I have access to mandrel benders at work and I can tig aluminum or stainless) and come up with a bastardized version of the place racing version. But i won't know how long to make the pipe or where to put the bends.
4)Because I am trying to imagine how it is possible to replace the filter without removing the wheel and the wheel well plastic cover, It seems to me that this CAI would be a major PIA to change the filter.
So if anyone has any pictures of how this looks installed I would appreciate it.
And again, I apologize for the offensive language, I just wish people would read the post and offer advice instead of sarcastic criticism.

OK, here I go, please don't shoot

Don't mind the newbie. He just needs to perfect his searching skills and get over the frustrations of getting to know the org (been there - done that ). That would include the languange usage part...

Neighbour, if you search the 5th Gen Forum for place racing you will get a LOT of hits, and among them there is this post:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....t=place+racing

If you go through it, in 3rd post, there is a link to a webpage (it works, I tried it) that has complete installation procedure along with photos you have asked for...

I was able to find it in less than 5 minutes of searching. Like the guys said, try to search differently before you post and flame up

Actually... yes there is and everyone is a heck of a lot more polite than alot of people in here. Just trying to get my 20 bucks worth out of here and it doesn't seem to be working. If I had hours and hours to spend in here I would read all 25 pages that come up when I search for place racing. And if the geocities link actually worked I might even finally get to see a few pictures of this installed. If you don;t want to read peoples post that you think are useless don;t read it!!!
