Was this ever done, adding a sub in the 5th gen BOSE sub “cutout”?

I have a none-BOSE system in a 5th gen and want to add a sub but do not want a box in the trunk. Even though my car is none-BOSE it has the “cutout” for the BOSE sub.
Did anybody install a sub were the BOSE sub goes? If so what kind of sub and size?

thanks

8inch. You will probably have to trim the metal anyway with some tin snips. More info available if you start a thread in the audio forum.

edit: oops, you DID start a thread in the audio forum.
