My drop in does fit a little tight in the box. IMO, if you want to get the most out of your drop in, do the GAB.

GAB intake with K&N. It made a significant increase fo $40. Probably the cheapest bang for buck power mod.

i got a K&N a while back but since it was so new, the oil was along the outside edge of the filter, so my coat hanger wouldn't hold it on....i'll have to take a look at it now and see if it's not so slippery anymore....

Yea i have a tight fit too. if u compare the stock to K&N you'll notice its a lil heavier and the rubber surrounding in thickers... dunno just thing that might cause the tight fitment...other then that its great. not better then just running straight MAF.. but i'll survive..lol

When I got mine the instructions said "apply the foam tape..." but there was no foam. I called K&N (or maybe e-mailed) and they sent some out. I think there were 2 pieces (or 4 and you stack 2) on the top and bottom of the holder to hold it in better.
I just cleaned mine and it may have improved my mileage (it was pretty dirty), or it could be psychological.

ok after having 4 set ups...
1. completely stock
2. 3 in KN with stock midpipe
3. full berk short ram
4. stock w/o scoop or resonator
5. stock with KN drop in, w/o scoor or resonator

the 5th seems to defenatly be the best all around, the low end torque is back, unlike with the berk, and high end is relatively good, tho the berk was did seem a bit better at like 5000 and up.

What intake you should have depends on your mod list...

My Berk works great with my Headers, not to much low end loss (less than my old ported GAB) and it runs like a bat out of hell after 4k (much more noticable than my ported GAB).

But if your Max is mostly stock... Anthing more than a GAB is a waste unless you do shows and need some bling.

BTW, I have my old K&N panel filter sitting around if anyone wants it for cheap... needs to get cleaned, but it is in perfect shape.

GAB? I've never heard of this.

EDIT: NM, I searched and found it. I'm still laughing about what it actually is. I wouldn't think that would work very well though as it would draw in hot engine comprtment air.

I have the K&N and GAB... However I do keep the slider piece just for when I want the car to be quiet. Fits just fine.

Am I the only one who couldn't tell a difference with the K&N drop filter? Maybe because it's an automatic?
