What is the '02/'03 PCV part number?

I went to AutoZone today to purchase a PCV valve and they stated there was none listed for our cars. I also went online to AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts and they listed that the PCV is N/A.

The dealer wants $12.95 for the Nissan one, but I would assume that Purolator or somebody makes a non-OEM replacement for the VQ35. So I went to www.pureoil.com and Purolator does not even list one in there online application listing.

Any ideas?

Order one from Dave Burnette at South Point Nissan @ 1.888.254.6060. IIRC, it was around $5, not sure about shipping since I ordered a few other items at the same time. Dave charges actual shipping charges and ships out fast. That'd be my route if I were you.

I already went to AutoZone and Advance. I just got back from PepBoys and none of them have a part number listed for the 3.5

Same here, I've been looking everywhere and no one has it but the dealer.

Nissan is famous for this. They are one of the owrse I think for aftermarket. I had a 1984 200SX back in high school, and even though the car was 10 years old I still couldn't get/find parts aftermarket. I even worked for NAPA at the time and I still always ended up at the dealer. I was told that nissan doesn't release the spec. to the after market, and because of this the aftermarket can't make anything.

My local Nissan Dealer didn't even have one in stock for my 02-SE! Great parts department, not!

Right near the firewall on the engine. There is a approx 6" tube running from intake to it.

For reference...

Thread bump!

How did you guys get the PCV valve out? Getting the tube off was no problem, but the valve itself won't come out. I tried inserting one end of a needle nose plier, and then pulling, but the plier simply slid out and removed small chunks of plastic at the top.

Doesn't it have threads on the PCV valve?

The top of the valve was a black plastic "nipple" about 1 inch long. The bottom of the valve was a hex socket shaped base that looked to be 3/4". Am I looking at the wrong part or what?

You have to find the right socket to remove the valve at the base. Look at your replacement valve and as long as it's an OEM part it should be the same as what's in your engine.

I have to remove the base? My searches said that the valve simply pulls out, and pushes back in. (Ia m trying to get it out to test it, since it is 4 years old with 18,xxx miles on it)

As the pictures and everyone else stated, it is threaded. The picture above is the new design. The OEM original one was all black. Black nipple and black threaded. The replacement OEM one has white nipple and black threads.

I haven't attempted to remove mine so I couldn't tell you how much room is there for a Crescent wrench. I would just go out and get the right tool for the job to make it easier. I have over 51,000 miles on my car and I haven't checked my PVC valve yet. I didn't change the one on my previous 92 until 100,000 miles.

Well after another futile attempt at the PCV valve, I found out that it is bigger than a 3/4" socket. So anyone know what size it is? And even if I knew the size, do they make one long enough to go over the nipple?

From what I could measure on mine it's probably a 23MM or 7/8 inch deep socket. I don't see much chance of using a Crescent wrench to remove it in the confined space in my engine compartment.

I am a mechanic by trade (24 years). Trust me, a deep socket will fit your PCV valve.

I would also recommend that you use a 6 point socket to remove and install the PCV valve.

Does anyone have any writeup info for the 5.0 gen? The replacement part I got does not have any threads...can I just pop the old one out with a screwdriver?
