139dB Stebel Air Horn Install
I read a post somewhere saying that we didn't need to use a relay switch with our Maximas but I can't find it anymore. Anyone know anything about this? All the install directions that I've found so far would require me to dust off my college physics book and open up to the electrical chapter. Never thought a new horn would be so complicated. There has to be an easier way to hook this thing up.

I installed one on my motorcycle and the standard wiring couldn't handle the current (18 amps I believe). The motor in the horn just spun weakly - too slowly to pressurize the horn.
I've never looked at the wires on the Maxima, but my guess is they're too light to handle that current. On the bike, I ran 12 gauge wire from the battery, through the relay, and on to the horn.
It takes a little bit of work to wire it up, but if you're after a loud horn, it's worth it! I really like having a LOUD horn available when I'm riding.

Yes, you must use a relay, but it's easy as hell. One pin is ground, ground the chassis. Another constant, hook up to battery. Your OEM power wire to the OEM horns will go in the one pin, and the last one hooks into the new horns.

Hahaha, thats great- so what would be a decent horn then, i dont want something super "the trains coming in 10 minutes" loud but just deeper than toot-toot maxima. Autozone sells the pilot low and high tone, i think pilot makes them- they're like 102. No nevermind its Blazer that makes those horns, their like 19.99, anybody use these?
