this will sound pretty dumb, but I have to ask someone who already has a Place Racing Cold Air Intake.

I'm assembling the new Cattman "All-Black" Cold Air Intake* (details below) kits this weekend, now that I have all the various components assembled.

Only problem is, I've never actually put one in a gen5 Max.

So, my question to whomever has one regards the orientation of the upper tube (the one between the MAF and the throttle body). There is a long thin tube that sticks out of the side (w/ two very little tubes that stick out perpendicular to it at the end) and that tube attaches to the larger tube nearer to one end than the other.

In order to assemble the kits in approximately the configuration that they are in final form I need to determine which direction the long thinner tube points when the upper tube is in position -- towards the front of the car, downwards, or somewhere in between. There doesn't seem to be room for it to point back towards the firewall. Also need to know if the upper tube is oriented so that where the thin tube attaches is nearer the MAF end or the throttle body end.

Specifically, I need to know these things because the connector hoses that attach to either end of the upper tube are different diameters -- the one that connects to the throttle body is smaller than the one that connects to the MAF -- so I need to know which end to put it on. I also need to orient the T-bolts so they're pointed in the right direction. This matters because although the installer can adjust these positions, I want them to start out more or less where they're supposed to end up.

Finally, to attach the MAF adapter to the upper end of the lower tube in the proper alignment (these are so beautifully machined!), on the 4-sided face where the MAF adapter bolts to the MAF there are two flat sides and two rounded sides. Which are on the top and which are on the sides?

Any response would be much appreciated, I'm trying to get these done this afternoon so we can start shipping Monday. Can probably convey this with words (I hope mine make it clear) but if you have pics, that would be even better. Not that interesting a topic for the forum (and I'm not here regularly) so a private reply to <cattmanperformance@earthlink.net> would be just great.

Obviously I'm using this opportunity to promote the new product, but I really do need to find out this stuff. Thanks much for any assistance.

*the new Cattman CAIs use the Place Racing upper and lower tubes in a deep black powdercoat (from Cattman only), upgraded with black Purosil hose connectors, black-anodized billet aluminum MAF adapter and heavy duty T-bolt clamps (and a real K&N filter). Bought these in quantity with upgraded subcomponents so I can provide better quality for less money, price goes down from $235 to $210, with a introductory price of $199.

I feel like a newbie, hadn't seen the installations link above. Found some great CAI installation instructions, thanks Pioneer, and answered my own questions.

Well i can try and help you out. There is the tube that connects the MAF to the TB. Then in a stock 2k max there is another rectangular box (a thin one at that) that runs for a breather to the valve cover and has a vacuum (can't spell tonight)tube running to the intake. This box ran perpendicular almost exactly inbetween the MAF and the TB. Hope this helps and if not we could talk on the phone and maybe get in the same ballpark.

Cya,
Ryan
