No its an auto. 6speed was hard to find for me. But all the options make up for the auto. Along with the TE package.

Awesome! Congrats on the purchase! I may be about to join the 5.5 gen club with the purchase of an '03 GLE. I just can't decide if I want to buy a car with 165k miles.

165K Damn thats alot of miles for an '03. I'd probably shy away from it...unless the price was right

Well the dealer has it stickered for just under $10k. The car has all service records including oil, brakes, and transmission services. I figure if I can get them down another grand or two it'd be worth it because the car is extremely clean and practically brand new on the inside.

Congrats on the new car! sounds really nice!

Charr- my 95 had 192,000 when i sold it in sept, I also had a 96 with 156,000. Check for things like struts/shocks, alternator... On my high mile maximas, the engines were fine, it was the suspension that I had problems with, and motor mounts, things like that...

Maxima570 - Thanks for the tips. I wasn't too concerned with the engine but the transmission is something I worry about on any car. I'm going down to look at it again today to see if I can get a price I like.

Sorry if I'm hijacking this thread...I'm just trying to get my post count up to 15 so I can post my own threads.

I got it for 10995. The milage is kinda high at 92k. But I got the carfax and have all maintence records so I went for it. Besides inside and out is mint. And I got it at a dealer. The bank who is giving me the loan appraised it at almost 17k. So I think I got a good deal.

I am currently looking at a 2003 SE with 91k miles for 10900. Is it a good deal, or might it be a problem car?

Yes those prices are so good because the mileage is 50-60,000 more miles than the average 03 which is usually in the 30's to 40's something thousand mile range.

Also in the market for a 5.5 Maxima 6 speed. I have fallen in love with the gray lustre color, but it seems to be the rarest color out there... based on my limited experience so far with Maximas (autotrader.com and cars.com).

Just for the sake of comparison shopping, how much did you pay for your 6 speed Maxima last year? Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Congradulations on your purchase! I am new this board, however not to Maximas. I have only owned and driven Maximas since I got my license. I too just made the jump to the 5.5 Gen: 6-Speed, 50,000 miles, 15,500. I love the car! All the options but navi -- I hate screens in my car.

Greetings all,

I'm jealous reading this thread about people finding the exact Maxima they want and purchasing it (for good prices). I've had an '03 SE Pearl for a couple years now and simply (still) love it. In fact, last week my wife told me that she wants an identical/additional 02-03 Pearl Max, but she wants a GLE instead of the SE. She told me I had 2 weeks to find/buy it for her before her trip. I said "great!", "no problem!" . . . uhhh, well, fast forward to today, and now "problem" . . .

My dilemma is I can’t seem to find a stock ’02 or ’03 GLE with the Glacier Pearl White exterior and the light-gray “Frost” leather interior. The nissanusa.com spec sheet says that this combination exists for 2002/03 (right?), but I can barely even find a decent picture of one (searched goggle images, searched the.org, even went through every single page of the “great picture thread”, not a single one, nada). Does anyone own, or seen, or heard of a Glacier Pearl White 02-03 GLE Max with the light gray ‘Frost’ leather interior, and more importantly, do you have any direct pics/links? [ and I guess even more importantly, do you happen to have one in decent shape you want to sell me? ]

As usual, thanks!!

Looks like I might be able to get $18k for my 03 GLE, sheer silver, fully loaded Max (no navi) with only 16k miles. My car is in pristine condition and I really hate to part with it now. However, I am itching for the TL with navi ($33k) or the RL ($42k).

I feel the pain here...I had to go 1000 miles to find my car. A 2k1 AE in Phoenix, AZ from Austin TX.

Since I don't know how to drive automatic, I have to settle for a manual! Well, 2 days to go, I pick it up Thursday! It is a Sterling Mist/Grey Leather with every option but the CD changer and Auto tranny. 57k miles 12.5k sale.

Also I have to say I have already found a buyer for my flawless (never broke on me) '98 SE 5-speed. Drove it from 61025 (exactly) until about 140k without a single show-stopper.

I did drive a 2k2 6-speed at the dealer (wanted 14k) which in my opinion was badly abused, barely any clutch feel left (high engagement) and smoked when started. Too bad, was a good color for Texas.

It's really a shame that the manual trans has become so hard to find here in the US, I guess we really are lazy!
