5 speed whine
Hey guys!
I’m a little nervous about this one. My 00 max SE 5speed has been meticulously taken care of throughout its 184K mile life. I have never had any MAJOR problems. About 10 days ago and about 4 days after changing my transmission fluid to RedLine MT-90 GL-4. I started out of a tollbooth like a bat-out-of-hell.
Up around 5500rpm as I was pulling it into second gear I noticed for the first time a pulsating whine coming from the trans. Over the past 10 days it seems to slowly be getting worse. At first I would only hear it under heavy throttle in first gear. now it’s no longer a pulsed whine in first, just a whine, and a pulsed whine in second now. Can’t hear it in any other gear and it seams to be worse when the car/trans is warm.
Any ideas? Is it time for a 6speed swap?
