HELP - Changing Brake Pads, QUESTION

Crap, looks like I forgot to pick up a piston compressor tool. Should I just hold off on this until I get one? Or can this be done without one?

I'd definitely get one or else you might spend a couple of hours trying to compress the pistons in the rear, the fronts I used a large c-clamp and opened up my brake fluid container.

Thanks, Doc. I'll give ya a ring if I hit any more stumbling points. First rotor/caliper is off, we're past the ppoint of no return!

I was gonna say you starting with the rears was the best way to go,.... get the most difficult part out of the way first.

i just used something flat, like a piece of metal, lay it across the piston, and a c-clamp to push it in. It usually works pretty well.

Well...everything seem to be moving along right now, but it would seem as through compressing this piston (even with the tool) is a tad tou8gher than I thought it'd be.

Yeah a C Clamp for the fronts is plenty. They shouldnt be very hard to compress... did you unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap? You want to make sure you're not pushing up fluid into the tightened cap, and also put some towels around it in case fluid leaks out.\

(last time I only had the c clamp and no piece of wood, I was holding the thing with one hand like a juggler and screwing and balancing with the other, I looked like a spaz..but i got it in the end)

that piston is a b!tch to compress even WITH the tool. Well the fronts are easy but the rear is going to **** u off. Its a little different and u have to do a spinning compress instead of just pushing in. Get the tool, definitely.

Instead of turning the little handle thing, take a wrench and turn the nut right before the handle.

Welp, everything is done. Matt (ozzombie13) came over to help me, of which I cannot thank enough. Also, big thanks to Chris (doc2278) for his help.

A quick review:

REARS
What a nightmare. The rotors came off with no problem...in fact, taking everything apart was no problem. The rear piston, however, WAS A NIGHTMARE. It took my brother, Matt, and myself to torque it down.

FRONTS
Pretty simple for the most part. Probably took about 50 mins for rotors and pads on the front. The torque member mounting bolts were seized as all hell, it took quite a bit of muscle to break them free. We also used some PB Blaster (Matt, btw, you left it here. ) to free them up.

All in all, this was pretty straightforward, but had its hangups. Glad it's over, and glad I know wtf I am doing for next time.

Don't be jealous in the least, dude. The interior is close to being done, but not quite done yet. The interior was a bit dirty, I have some LED bars to mount, the new (never before tried) cluster mod is not in, and all of the amps are out (fging the trunk...thread to come in a few days) Besides, you need to see it at night to truly appreciate it.

Thanks again, man...couldn't have done it without you guys!

Rears

Saw it in a thread from way back. But go to sears and get the brake tool from the hardware section for foreign autos. It attaches to a wrench or power tool, spin and the piston turns right back that way, without it the job is really crazy.
I tried it with pliers like crazy thing to do.
