Has anybody removed the trim piece that attaches to the same metal bracket as the rear side marker light? How the $%&* does it come off? The side marker light pryed off with no problems but the trim piece is a different story. I think there is a screw that holds it in place from the back side but I have NO IDEA how to access it. 
By the way, it's a 2K2 and it's the rear passenger side (if that matters).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. A google search found me nothing.

Long story short......I wrecked it when I got carried away with my new "detailing expertise".
I would prefer not to divulge any more details than that for fear of having my intelligence judged on this act alone. But in any case, I bought a replacement trim piece assuming it was a simple pry off old and plug in new. Again, this appears to have been a poor assumption.
Okay, I thought I would post a follow-up to this that might help future newbs.
The bumper fascia definitely needs to be loosened to get access to the screw holding the sidemarker trim piece in place. It doesn't have to be totally removed, just loosened enough to allow you access behind it. This involves removing the two screws holding the fascia in place from the underside, one more screw near the mud flap, and two more that are accessed from the trunk close to where the jack sits. The jack, it's holder, and one of the clips holding the trunk trim lining in place will have to be removed to get at these two screws.
What a PIA for what I thought was a 5-minute job. Not only that but the screws holding the bumper fascia in place from inside my trunk were rusted SO BADLY that basically all I did was touch them with my socket wrench and the head broke off. On both of them. So now I have to figure out how to get the old rusted screws out and get new replacement screws in. I also could not believe how much dirt and mud was caked on everything in behind the bumper fascia.
