they stole my lights!!!

i woke up this morning to find that my 5.5 finally got ripped of my HID's they bent and broke the fenders, the paint all f'ed up and they pulled and the wiring out as well. Now i need to get it fixed and i don't know if i want to go through my insurance. But i do want to see how much the lights and HID are going to cost me. I have a friend that has after market headlights and i dont like them, they look cheap and the inside of the light is the wrong color. Anyone know were i can get cheap nissan oem parts? I cant get the balast and bulbs for a good price so far.....

WOW Man that really sucks!! I am dreadding the day when i wake up to this!!! Maybe you should just go through the insurance co and pay ur deductable... THe price for the damage and replacement parts would prob exceed the cost of ur deductable. Good luck with everything!!

I agree with 03MajesticMax. Go through your insurance. That way you get oem parts and all the damaged fixed also.

That sucks I know what you are going thru. I am gonna have to agree with 03majestic. When my lights were stolen it cost well over $2.000 to fix it and the deductible was only $250.

Unless you know someone that can help you with the repairs go through your insurance.

Upgrade??? you already have the HID's bro, you have an 03....

Anyway, sorry to hear about your HIDs, I would have to agree with everyone else, to go through your insurance, it falls under comprehensive, and the deductible is usually pretty low...

By the way why is it the maximas are so targeted for the HID's why not Acura's or Lexus??

gosh that really sucks. i worry about that too when i park my car at night some place where its kinda ghetto. i noticed when i took off my lights to work on them, they came off with just two screws and the lights were secured by two plastic tabs. i think the data dots will help you though.

Actually, they were only offered as an option on the 6th gener's. They were standard on the 2k2-2k3's. Yeah, sorry indecent about your loss. I dread everyday I am going to lose mine as well. And since mine is a 2k, I'm not sure if my insurance will cover that or not. But, anyway, you can shop around on Ebay for replacements. There is always someone selling the headlight shell with no ballasts or bulbs for cheap. You can go this route for much cheaper, and buy any ballasts and HID bulbs. It's kind of rare to find a half decent pair of OEM headlights without something wrong with them. I would check here on the .org also. Good luck!

Glad I live in a small town...I did briefly worry about this when I bought the car, because I had heard the headlights on this model was a hot ticket for thieves.

incorrect, on 2k2 and up, they were all standard, your getting the 5gen and 5.5gen mixed up. and FYI, there have been more HID thefts on maximas than i35, not that its a good thing, but because there are more maximas then I35s.

sorry to hear about ur loss

first, if u go thru insc, would there be any record of it against ur VIN? also can the security alarm handle an aditional NC input? maybe run a sourced wire superglued tho the back of the headlights and into the alarm. When the wire breaks, party starts

I feel your pain and I strongly suggest going with your insurance company cause when they took my headlights, those F**ers did it with a crowbar, bent my car hood and bumper and it cost $2700 after that the insurance drop me like a bad habit... Good Luck but INSURANCE is the best way...

That is one of my biggest fears with the 5.5's. I know of a couple of people who have had there lights taken.

Call your insurance up and add them as a custom option, I did with geico at $1400 replacement value, and it didn't affect my premium at all.

i would go with the crowd and say file with insurance. Here's a site where they have the OEM lights, but they are pretty pricy

http://www.courtesyparts.com/secondtier_a33.html

or you can always use eBay.

I was thinking about installing an alarm this month for the fear of missing head lights.

yep the head hunters probably have his stolen HID's, too bad a few of us together cant tinker around and come up with some ideas on securing our HID's a lil bit better, maybe some type of bracket? I dunno, let me know something

Well it is a bad deaign on nissans part. The reason we are targeted more than other brands is because you can open our hoods from the outside. Therefore making our headlights very easy to rip off. Especcually since it is only two 10mm bolts that hold it in. YOu can either take them out in two seconds or just rip off the tabs. Which if you search around ebay for an lenght in time you will see our headlights selling were the tabs are broken or have been repaired. These for the most part are the stolen ones. I have heard reports of people stealing them in 20 minutes. There is a alarm write up for our HID that I highly recommend just search for it.

If the headlights comeout easily it may be wise to etch something on the light housing and ballasts.
