Buying a 5.5 this weekend... need help from you guys

Im seriously thinking of getting a 2002 Maxima SE 6spd 51k miles this weekend from an Acura Dealership. The Maxima is champagne/gold color, has cloth interior and I got a really good deal for it at $10,700 and an even $12000 to walk out of the lot with it (Tags, Taxes and Title).

I need some your opinons on what to look for when buying a 5.5. Any particular problems that occur with this car? Any questions I should ask that are specific to Maximas. Please let me know if there are things I should ask the dealer before buying. Thanks

That's not a bad deal especially since those 6-speeds are so hard to find. The one thing I would think hard about is whether you are prepared to worry about your HIDs. This theft has moved down to FL from the Northeast.

Trust me, I know... This may be a dumb question but... why are these stolen so much? How is it so easy for them to basically take them from the car?

They are stolen alot b/c they are about $1200 new. A-holes steal them and sell them on Ebay, broken tabs and all. I won't get into how they steal them b/c a lot of folks on here have had them stolen and are a litte sore about the whole subject.

Do some research, take it for a test drive and see if you like it.

Some quick things to look out for are the brakes and 02 sensors.

Takes literally 30 seconds with very minor body damage if done by a pro. Nuff said about that.

Definately make sure the rotors aren't warped from the get go. Drive it at like 60 mph and apply moderate pressure on the brakes and feel for vibrations in the steering wheel. I've heard of a lot of ppl saying they have 3rd gear grinds with their 6 speed but I don't, I think mine may have been replaced under warranty before I bought it. Check the clutch pedal engagement point to ensure that clutch doesn't have excessive wear on it. Other than that check the tires and def do a carfax report. Look to see if it has any mods, one of the other org members had and underdrive crank pulley which eventually messed up his motor. If it were messed up then you would be able to tell in a compression check which is pretty involved requiring the spark plugs to be removed one by one checking each cylinder. Good luck and welcome.
