KYB GR-2 struts 00-01 vs 02-03

Could someone tell me the difference between the 00-01 and 02-03 KYB GR-2 struts? They seem to have different part #'s. I thought all 5th gens used the same struts.

Its really wierd cause lots of member were using the part number for the 00-01 kyb struts on the 02-03. When I was looking at shocks they didn't even have a part number listed for the 02-03 and i called to check and was told you can use the 00-01 but KYB won't warranty the product. I don't know what the difference is cause I always thought all 5 gens used the same shocks

I used the 00-01 GR-2s a few years back and it worked just fine.

IIRC, I think the difference was in one of the brake line brackets. One was different on the strut and the brake line wouldn't fit in there.

It's been a while, so don't hold me to that, but I think that's what the difference was. In any case, it didn't prevent me from running the struts.

John is correct, it's the brake line bracket for the fronts that are different. If you used 00/01 GR-2's on your 2k2/3 the bracket is in a different position. The fixit for this is to use zip ties to attach them.

The 2k2/3's have a slightly modified bracket so it fits right.

Here's the kicker though, if you do decide on using the 2k/2k1 on your 2k2/3 and need warranty support - KYB will void it for using the wrong part number on your car.

Thanks for the help guys. Just what I needed to know. If I did need the warranty, do they just ask what year car they were installed on. What would stop me from saying they were installed on an 01?

the difference between 00-01 and 02-03 OEM nissan struts are that the 00-01 the support for the abs line has a threaded hole.. whereas the 02-03 the hole is just a hole, so you'll need a nut and bolt combo..

but besides that they are identical...
