Changing PCV Valve
Changing PCV Valve
I bought a PCV Valve for my girls 2003 Maxima and I tried changing today. Couldn't change it though because I was sort of confused. I'm not even sure if I got the right PCV Valve. It is Black on top and a light grey at the botom. It has 45B756 etched in the black portion
I located the PCV valve in her engine. I then took off the clamp and hose. But the valve didn't look like it wanted to come out. Looked like it might need a wrench or something to screw it out. Is this correct or do I just pull it out because it didn't budge for me. Can you guys please help with this?

But the questions still stands. Is it the correct PCV Valve? Sorry to be bothersome.

okay maybe I was exaggerating about the $6...its more like $8 or $9....the $15 you paid is the retail price nissan sells it at....I get my parts through dave B...and he hooks up .org members and sells the parts at retail price minus 25%...
Does anyone have information for the PCV for a 5.0 gen? I've got the new part and it has no threads..do I just pop the old one out? What should I use so it doesn't crack?

Whats the benefit
when I did a tune up on my car, I also got the PCV Valve but forgot to install it and after reading this thread I remember.
Can someone tell me how important it is to change the PCV Valve and what effects does it have on the car.
Please educate us on this.

Hey guys. Part ## 11810-8J101 is no more. The new part # for the threaded PCV Valve for 2002-2003 engines is # 11810-8J102.
I haven't changed it out yet because of some complications as of lately, but will do it as soon as possible and post back on any noticeable changes in drivabilit (probably not but ya never know).
Oh and it was the same price of about $15.

My stock one isn't black or white on top. It's yellow (not stained, actually yellow)...
As far as I know, the only place to get a replacement pcv valve for a 2002/2003 Maxima is from Nissan, because all of the auto parts store chains around here keep telling me "it's a dealer-only part."
So... you guys have made references to black tops and white tops, and I have a yellow top. Jibberish says that there have been two factory part numbers for the 02/03 valve. Were there actually 3, or is something else going on?

Part#11810-00014 is invalid I guess. I saw it on Courtesy Nissan's website. But n3985 said he called and was told it's invalid. So in the end, for a 2002-03 Maxima, only part #11810-8J102 matters if you need a PCV valve.
Well I changed the PCV Valve today. Had to buy a 23mm Deep Socket. Came out quite easily actually. Took the O-Ring gasket off the old PCV Valve and put it on the new one. Both old and new PCV valve looked identical. The old one still had about a good 10K miles left for it to need changing. With the price I paid for this dealer only item, I would've just left it on there. But it was gunked up a bit.
Really? how can tell how many miles it has left?

I was at my dealer on friday and he couldn't find the part number of the PCV Valve, so i just want to ask what is the exact name of the valve? After i made a research by my self, found this:
Is it Valve Assy-Control with part number 11810-31U00(11810P) or Insulator-PCV Vlave 11812-41B00(11810C)? Probably it's the first one, so what does Valve assy-control stand for?
BTW, me engine has a little consumption of oil, so that's why i decided to replace the PCV valve....
Thanks
