Which max??

I have been considering selling my 2001 max auto for a 5spd or 6spd max. I am the only owner of my car so my question is, should i risk that for a car that has already had an owner (or two), or stick with mine. I really want a manual, ever since i started driving. Just trying to get some opinions on the situation.....2002-2003(6spd) guys..have you been pleased with the quality of the car? any problems?
Thanks in advance

6>5 And to answer your question about my 6speed I can honestly say I still love driving my car after 3yrs. Get a 5.5 gen you wont regret it

Well, being the previous owner of a 2k SE. I must say after driving the 3.5 Engine of the 02-03's, it's liek night and day. MAbey not that dramatic, but you can definately tell the difference in torque, and overall smoothness of acceleration. Buying a car (used) is a risk period, just do your research, make sure it's something you really want when you do find it and sure.. GO for it.

you're always taking a risk when buying a used vehicle. you must ask yourself if the risk is worth the upgrade.

super6..a g35 or tl sounds nice but i have a budget and i am trying to avoid making payments on a car. That being said, i think the risk is worth the upgrade just as long as i do my research like previously stated. I loooove maximas so i wanna stick with it. My biggest question was for the 2002-2003 guys if they have had any problems with their cars. I am in search of dependibility and my 01 max has not given me any major problems however i think i would kill for a 02-03 6 speed not really but you get the idea.

I would not question the longevity or dependability of the VQ35DE. I have an 02 and I think the worst issue I've had with it was replacing the serpentine belts, which is just a wear-and-tear part as you know. If you have the opportunity to get a 6 speed I would go for it.

I asked the same questions since I too am shopping around for a 2k2/2k3 Max. I've had some questions answered in this thread: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=477965

Basically answers to what problems arise with higher milage.

I can tell you that I am so pleased with the 6-speed. I had been dreaming of it for months before I bought it and its certainly lived up to my expectations. The 3.5L gives plenty to play around with. And there's nothing like downshifting to 5th to let loose on the highway!

Good luck with your search and keep us posted

I also own a 2k1 auto max and am interested in buying a 5.5 gen. Bigger engine, manual 6 speed, and of course the better looking headlights go for it
