My New Toy - 01 Maxima SE - Sterling Mist - Pictures Added

Hello All,

I have been lurking around the Forums for a couple of weeks now with a post here and a post there. Getting info to purchase a Maxima. I bought an 01 Maxima and cannot be happier.

I bought an 01 Maxima SE 5Spd, Sterling Mist with everything but the kitchen sink. The car has 50K miles and I think it was a descent deal. Love the Climate Control, the Bose is OK, love the car overall.

Two things wrong with it though, brakes and rotors are shot. Just bought Brembo plain rotors with Axxis pads. Also has something I just noticed after a couple days of driving... On hard bumps the exhaust seems to be hitting something. Thinking maybe a broken or loose thingy that holds the exhaust (technical enough)... Any ideas?

Finally here is a picture of her::

Congrats on the purchase. I highy recommend you donate to the .Org. Best 20.00 you will ever spend. 50K for an 01 is a rare find indeed. My AE had 51500 when I bought her.

I hate to hear that... Consumer reports said that. I'm hoping the rattle is a quick fix at a muffler shop. If not, I guess I will leave with the sound until I have the money for an exhaust.

welcome to the club. your car looked like mine before the mods.

your exhaust rattling problem is probably because the exhaust hangers are sagging. get some pipe clamps and throw them around the hanger holding up the back of the b-pipe.

Is this an easy DIY project or something I should definitely take to my mechanic or exhaust shop.

Congrats on your new Max-hope you have a blast with it. I traded my 92 GXE in on a 01 SE AE (Can. didn't have the areo kit on its AE's). I am very happy with the trade up.

Damn thats a sweet ride! Im checking out some 2ks as a possible new ride. I really like the looks of the Maximas a lot and I think it would be a nice ride to have.

Congrats on the purchase man. Looks super clean! It might be the exhaust hangers. Go to Autozone. They have the perfect size that you will need if you are replacing them. First mod, tint your windows.
