Machine Gun Door Lock

When I lock my doors the passenger side door sounds like a machine gun. It locks but it sounds really bad. I have not had any accidents. Has this ever happened to anyone? Anyone have a suggestion how to fix this?

Thanks

Most likely a bad actuator. They kind of go haywire sometimes and keep trying to lock or unlock not sensing that it already has.

mine does it too... On my car it sounds like the mechanism is getting very weak and is repeatidly trying to lock the door.

Does it make the same noise when unlocking? 9dtalon is probably right, faulty actuator. If you can get in the door I'd lube it up real good with WD-40 or something like that, check all the electrical connections, and make sure it's not binding up anywhere. If that doesn't work the replace it. Good luck

Mine has done that before. My battery was nearly dead (bad alternator) and I used my key fob to lock the doors. It started making a click click click noise. Only way I could get it to stop was to turn the key to the on position.

Thanks for the reply, I'm glad I'm not alone on this one. Would anyone happen to have one of those cool blow ups of the passenger side door, with all the screws and parts. If I have to take my door apart that would be helpful. Also this maybe a good time to put in heated mirrors.

Can't figure out how to post the picture of the door panel... I'll do you one better though, you PM your e-mail address and I'll send you the whole "body & trim" section from the service manual.
