Auto transmission kickdown

I have searched the fifth gen forums and found a lot of people have the slow 1-2 shift I have been experiecing, but found no mention of the kickdown issue. I have seen lately where in just about all gears but 4th, when I am around 3000-anything less than redline, I get no kick down of gears at wot.

It just revs up, I hit the power at the 4500k engine manifold butterfly change, and it goes to redline and shifts up. There is a huge dead are from 3000-4500 and it doesn't kick down. Is this normal? My 4th gen would kick down at anything less than 5k.

Thanks for any tips or hints. I am at 66k miles.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with this, but I just read something on http://www.mattblehm.com/index.htm
about grounding kits and causing a smoother ride and also something with downshifts. Hope this "might" help.

it wont

sounds like a TCM issue to me. its not sending the signal to the tranny to downshift at initial hard acceleration.
i had a bad TCM on my 2000 and had to replace it (cant be reset or reprogramed)

It is in fact dead from 3500-4500.
I will try a new maf and see if that helps first.
Thanks for all the tips.
