LED Tails...first pic

Well Metal and Roy got me thinking and I started down the road of creating LED tails...this is just the first prototype. It's definitely not an easy project. I just wanted to see if I could get to the pics below and just that was a pain. now I've got get a pulse modulator(allows the bulbs to have a high low function, rework the led layout, and find time....I don't expect these to get done anytime soon.

For low could you just illuminate 1/2 or 1/3 of the bulbs?

Looks good, Pri. Any reason why the end LEDs are brighter than the middle ones?

yeh, it's because I didn't run any resistors in the layout yet. It's pretty blinding when on(the digital doesn't give it justice, and the PWM circuit will take care of that). Another reason is, that those 2 columns(brighter) have only 3 leds. So, 9v/ 3led is more power to each led than 9v/4leds. I plan on have more LEDs to fill up the brake light space but was limited by the circuit board size(that's 44 there...should be about 70 leds just for the brake light)

Updated pics, probably the finally brake light design

Spent a little more time on the brake/parking light design. I think this will probably be the final design for the brake light. Will work on the signal portion tonight what do you think?

actually this is a non-resistor setup...it's blinding. The camera just adjusted for it. PWM controller and resistors should fit that.

I think it's missing an LED. Second to bottom row, far right. Other than that, it looks good.

I would be interested too. And also, if it's a lot of trouble to make them dual intensity, mine would not have to be. You could just make 'em with 1 pos and 1 neg out of the brake light and the turn signal. That's all I'd need. If it's as simple as wiring an extra resistor with a wire lead then I'd like it set up that way so I could turn it to stock if I needed to.

As for the GLE/GXE tail shell, it was the only cheap tailight I could find...I still have my perfect SE tails on my car until i'm 100 percent sure of what I want.

As for reproduction, my plan is to buy a set of SE's and do a swap and just keep that going. Basically, send them my LED's tails plus cost for their tails in return. We'll see how that all works out.

Update

ok making some progress now...still need to solidify some connections as you can tell in this clip but you can see I've got it set up to become bright when you brake using PWM circuit.

Will begin working on the signal portion next.

this(the pic directly above) is my very first prototype the newer one(the one in the video) has about 15 to 20 more leds.
