Do I have any choices for different Auto Transmissions?
i dont like the way my auto shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear, and it probably costs around 900 to rebuild it, but i'm not sure what the problem is anyway....so i was wondering if i gotta spend that much already on it, why not just buy a new transmission? is there only 1 that will fit my 2001 maxima auto? or are there choices i can pick from? whats the smoothest and best? i wish i could stick an 8speed cvt trans from the skyline gt8 i bet its smooth as silk....
also does anyone know a good place to buy an inexpensive trans?

I don't know if inexpensive and good trans can be the same thing. These things are complicated and replacing the the tranny is a labor intensive job.
I had a shift kit installed when I replaced the the trany in my SHO and it rocked. It is very important to talk with the installer/rebuilder to get the tranny to meet your needs. Generally they can set up your tranny to shift just like stock, firm, or "race ready". "Race ready" is too hard for the street, chriping the tires on shifts can be annoying. I had my tranny set up to shift firm and WOT shifts felt like a manual powershift while regular driving just a more aggressive than stock. Valve body mods cannot be reversed so make sure the installer/rebulder know knows what you want.
One final thought, avoid AMOCO and get everything in writing.

i just want it to shift smoother from 2nd to 3rd gear and 3rd to 4th gear, it shifts great from 1st to 2nd but it makes the car sort of jump from 2nd to 3rd gear, is there a fix possible for this? anyone know whats causing it?

Did you get your max used? If so, where? It is possible it already has a shift kit and that is why you are a feeling the "jerk." Only way to tell is if there is an aftermarket tranny cooler on it. It should be mounted up on the front near the radiator.
