CAR AT DEALER -- Emissions Problems - Did I pay too much?

Ok., so before I was looking for a way to get my car inspected becuase it was saying o2 not ready, cat not ready. After driving too many miles and nothing having been done to the car to warrant it not being ready I decided on taking it to the dealer. The car only has 50k miles and since it's still covered under the emissions warranty I wondered what the heck. I thought that maybe the guy that sold it reset the computer but have driven 800 miles since I purchased it and still no CEL/SES light so doubt it. And yes the light is there, it was not removed.

Unfortunately I could not get an appointment until after the holiday weekend. I went ahead though and dropped it off last night to see if there was someway they could get around to looking at it today (a saturday). Starting to think I might have paid to much. I paid $11500 from a private seller, plus the tax benefits (i actually paid 11k), the car has every single option available. Compared to KBB and Edmunds I think I got a descent deal for Private Owner. Am I WRONG? The car is perfect inside and out cosmetically. The engine and tranny feel like NEW, even more after I put the Red Line in my MT, shifting is like BUTTER. Also it has brand new Falken Tires (3 months old, receipt in hand), awesome tires by the way. And a set of Snow Tires on the 15" RIMS, ready for the heavy winters. The winter tires are also new.

So TWO questions at the end...

- Did I pay too much? for a car still under warranty (powertrain and emissions)
- What should I expect from the stealership? Only have experience from Toyo in that matter and they have been great with my Wife's Sienna.

Dealer will charge an $85 diagnositc fee for pulling the codes on the SES light. Honestly you should have taken it to an autozone and pull the codes yourself then search the code on here and a TON of info will pop up. Many of the people on here have experienced at least one engine code or another. Most of them are reasonably inexpensive fixes if you do it yourself or take it to an independent mechanic. The dealer will most likely ream you, i.e. tell you that the coil packs need replacing ~$500 in parts, ~$150 labor (a DIY on that is about $300 to $400 depending on where you get the coil packs).

Hope this helps...

I was not getting any codes... I have the ODB II reader, no SES light no code, hence why I went to the dealer. Needed to pass inspection fast and was running out of options.

I don't think you payed to much for the car. Sounds good other than needing to pass the inspection.
