hot weather...poor performance
hot weather...poor performance
Ive been noticing this summer that when the temp gets to like 90 degrees my car gets to be pretty sluggish. im talking 0-60 times of about 9 seconds (auto) and slow on the highway also, no other cars i drove felt sluggish like this. I have a berk intake and i put my stock back on once didnt really notice a difference. car is super quick when it gets colder out...would that lead me to believe that my MAF is dying?
yeah but even with my AC on, the car still moves...given i have a couple more mods than him, but nothing major for performance. yesterday it was 90+ here and i was coming back from dons with the AC on, and i as usual, its only a slight drop in performance, much less than previous cars ive had. if your performance is truly dropping that much, i guess it is possible something is wrong.
the car is going to be a litle more sluggish when its hot tho, hot and muggy. usually fall and spring the cars seem to perform and respond the best, but the difference shouldnt be as drastic as you are experiencing.

well i know about the hot air thing less combustion..and i tried a/c on, a/c off....EVERYTHING (radio lights etc etc) on and no difference at all. you know when you start your car and its cold and it feels a little slower than usual..thats how it feels in hot. I dont like the GAB because theres too much of a chance of dirt getting into the intake. Ive tried it before.
isnt there some kind of temp sensor of something on the 2K2 MAF? would that have anything to do with it? cuz 90 degrees should NOT be chopping of 2.5 seconds off a 0-60 run. or make it barely be able to accelerate on the highway up a hill.

looks like im alone here with the problems. its not with a stopwatch im timing..in my head but still i can count almost exact on second..point is i have a huge power loss in the hot. I may go for a 2K1 MAF and just transfer the sensor and see what that does.

Man i have the same problem i dont know what to do my car feels very sluggish when it's hot and i got to push on throtlle much harder then usual to get the same accel. and i'm loosing gas because of that....any ideas guys
thank you finally SOMEONE WITH my problem. I always use premium gas, nothing but and that wouldnt make a difference. i changed my filter/intake setup to srock...same thing. How much does a dyno usually go for?

there will be some difference in performance, maybe not noticeable on the butt dyno, but there will be because of the higher intake air temps means that there will be a higher chance for pre-detonation, which means the knock sensors will kick in and reduce timing to prevent it. same principle on forced induction cars, lower intake temps(intercooler) mean less chance of pre-detonation which means more boost can be run safley.

OK...just got the code pulled...DOUBT IT has anything to do with my issue...but its P0455 "EVAP Emission control system leak (large)" What does that mean? Sometimes I can smell gas around my gas filler (im not DUMB i know there will be some smell of gas but its much stronger than it probably should be..but the gas cap passed inspection) so next is maybe try a new MAF....made mircacles happen on my 2K with a new MAF sensor.
