Car broke down

I was crusing in 5th gear this morning at like 50mph and all of a sudden the engine revs up and my car doesn't accelerate anymore.

So i pull up to the curb and stop. then im thinking. shiiiiit its the drivetrain.

I look at my driver's side axle and everything is nice and dry.

I look at my passenger side axle and the CV boot is up against the control arm. that thing came loose and fell or something.

so i towed it home and put the front wheels on blocks to inspect it. The passenger axle is about 1" out of the transmission. but I inspected the 3 bolts that hold the axle in place. they're in there still. I dont get why it fell out.

right now i dont have a car to pick up a replacement axle.

im sitting here helpless.

can you post some pictures? how did it come out? i mean, isn't there splines inside the transmission that hold it in place? experts, chime in!

what happened to the toyota?

btw, are you still coming down to socal? axle should be like $70 at autozone...they will charge you more...then when you return your core, the price all comes out to be $70 or so....pretty cheap and lifetime warranty...

or you can go ***** out and get raxles...more expensive but heard its sturdier than autozone ones...and lifetime warranty too

that's exactly what happened. the bracket that holds the damn axle in place that bolts to the chassis was broken in half. My 240SX friend and I were expecting a 30 min axle replacement but it turns out to be the damn bracket.

how the hell does this happen? that bracket is THIIICK.

guess im off to the nissan dealer tomorrow.

so you had to get a new axle...and a new bracket?

Was your axle really that messed up when it fell off the bracket?

oh hey .org,

I went to Dublin Nissan today to buy a replacement bracket.

So then i went to the parts department to buy me the bracket. The parts mang told me it was $145 DAAYUUUUMMMMM!!!!

BUT, i know Jay the mechanic really well from the dealer (he hooks me up with all sorts of things) and then me, Jay, and the parts mang were goofing off for like 5 minutes cracking jokes and what not.

The parts mang hooked it up for $95. Holy crap i saved myself $50!

Then i asked him to rush it to me. He said shipping was $10. and i was like ok.

Getting the maxipad done tomorrow!!! If not tomorrow then Wednesday!!!

The Maxima is fully bolted now with the new axle and the new bracket.

the car drives, but the alignment is off and there is a slight abnormal sound coming from the passenger side (the side i fixed). sounds similar to worn out bearing but i JUST got that replaced so its not it.

i'm gonna tell my mechanic to check it out when i take it to get an alignment.

The bracket is weak sauce looking.

Nissan should have made a solid unit instead of one with a hollow middle.
