checking the timing

I have power losses in hot weather and i was told to hook the car up to an OBD scanner and check the timing or something. I have a scanner (acces to one) and i hooked it up and saw all different statistics. what should i be looking at and what numbers should i be looking for to see if the knock sensor is retarding the timing?

it is only natural that you lose power when the air is hot............... hotter air = less air molecules to mix with fuel...... that's why they sell cold air intakes, not that i know there's a good one for the max..
lock this up!

oh if you looked back at another thread youd see its not a little power loss many people have aggreed that its a huge power loss that have driven it. now if you 2 year olds can actually tell me what im looking for instead of being retarded i can do it. im not clueless when it comes to engines. even tho it may sound like it.

unless it was changed (you would know it) your timing is at the stock 15 degrees.
why are you worried about the knock sensor? thats not an issue if your are using premium fuel like you are supposed to

I have power losses in hot weather.
So does every other car... Get a dyno and prove it.

and i was told to hook the car up to an OBD scanner and check the timing or something. or something?
does that mean? Get data logs and graph them out, anc search for what other people have gotten, cars vary, and so does the data, but there is a ball park where you should be.

I have a scanner (acces to one) and i hooked it up and saw all different statistics.
TIMING might be a start.

what should i be looking at and what numbers should i be looking for to see if the knock sensor is retarding the timing?
Many itmes can affect timing control, as the KS gets readings from the ECU which it montiors many other sensors.

This may be a little off topic, but didnt want to start a new thread. Does adjusting your timing 2 degrees to 17 have any performance increases?

yeh i know its annoying, thats why there should be a seperate section for people, inmo. A new person comes in doesnt know what keywords to serach for, or how to search at all.. Adn he/she believes they are asking a slightly different or completely unique Q, etc..
