HELP, strage brake broblem

last week noticed hand break was loose on first few clicks. today after a ride, noticed that rear left wheel was extreemly hot. seems like a siezed caliper, and that explains that the hand break was loose. problem is that both rear calipers were changed only a year ago.

the wheel still turns a bit tho, and as i understand loose hand break mean its activated which explains the hot wheel. but which causes which, hand break or siezed caliper. is there anything else to do before replacing caliper again? thanx.

The return spring may have stuck... Also if you had them replaced a year ago, maybe they are still under warranty throught the shop or if you did them yourself throught the parts store. Check the cable at the problem wheel first.

That spring is pretty tight, I can't imagine it getting stuck just from being dirty. Also check the cable run to see if its hung up somewhere.

Were they refurbished calipers or brand new when you bought them?

I don't think re-built should make a difference. All of the were parts are new, only the housing is cleaned & reused.

Update

U P D A T E:
ok so i cleaned the e-brake spring and mechanism with iol and still nothing. its like that arm that the cable sits on is real tight to move and the spring isnt srtong enough to push it back, but spring isnt the problem. does that arm come off the caliper assembly, or is it one piece?

should i just soak it in wd 40 again or need a new caliper? thanx.
