A/C clutch gong bad? Too full?

How common is it for the 5th gen to have problems with the a/c compressor/clutch? Ive seen a few other people on here have it repaired already, anyway i checked the pressure on the system the other day and it was at the low end of "full", maybe around 30, so I used some of that Sub-Zero R-134a, the pressure is now at around 41-42, the higher side of full. I started the car leaving work yesterday and i notice this whine that goes with the speed of the engine that doesnt happen with the a/c off. Its pretty loud, like a wheel bearing going bad but only happens with the a/c on. I know I used the right stuff, is it possible the gauge is wrong and its not as full, too full or just needs oil? Or a coincidence that my clutch was going bad at the same time- its just the loud noise, the belt is fine, it turns and isnt locking up or anything and it still blows cold. Oh does anybody know the viscosity of the compressor oil, i know its PAG Type S but theres a 46, 100 and 150 and if i try that i wanna use the right one. Thanks hope this helps

No opinions huh, even on what viscosity oil to use?

what was the high side pressure?

service manual just says use type S. the dealer shouldnt be offering you different types of viscosities. just ask for what the techs use.

personally, i wouldnt have added any of that **** you did, you might be looking at a compressor now.

the low end of 'full' (lol) isnt necessarily the high side of empty, there are several factors that play a part in the pressure readings.

and btw, the only way to know if a refrigerant system is 'full' or not, is to remove the charge and measure it. pressures are NOT indicitave of a correct charge, though some conclusions can be made by them.
