How much oil does the 3.5 need? Im going to change my oil and I cant find this anywhere. Not even in the owners manual. And yes I searched. How much does it need?

 

4-1/4 with oil filter
3-7/8 w/out filter

wait. . .my manual for my 03 specified 4.25w/o filter and 4.5w/ filter. did they print diff revisions or what?

 

i use a bigger filter than the stock filter, so i end up pouring in a full five quarts. i use the Mobil 1 size 105 filter.

 

I think Polo summed it all up. But I would suggest to change the oil filter every time you do an oil change. Clogged filters are bad for your engine, but if you always use the Nissan filters like I do then they are equipped with an over-pressure valve so that in the event of a clogged filter the valve would open up and and you will have a situation where unfiltered oil is passing through, but at least you filter will not exploded. Now there there other filters on the market that have this valve also, but some of them use cheap materials to construct the over-pressure valve so that's why I personally use the Nissan type. Just a matter of preference I guess.
