PO171 = Bad #5 injector ?
PO171 = Bad #5 injector ?
Hey guys, my cousin has a 2k maxima, his car has been pinging for a while
but for most under harder acceleration like when you want to pass another car. He was told by his local mechanic ( not a nissan dealer ) that the injector #5 need to be replace, he apparently plug some scanner and figure out it was the injector. Does anyone ever had that PO ? can you confirm if that's related to injector or what's the cure.
Thanks for helping.

Was going to replace MAF, now car won't start
Well, I got the PO171 code as well as pinging and almost stalling after start on my 2K5 SE. Searching the forums I have decided that the MAF is going bad. I changed the coils on the car myself so I figured I could do this one myself as well. Well, I started to take the MAF out today to look at it.
I disconnected the negative lead on the battery and then was going to work on the Torx screws holding the sensors only to realize my torx screwdrivers are not for the type of screws on the car. My brother says they are "security torx" screws. So I figured I'll run out and see if I can find some at AutoZone.
I re-connected the battery and then went to start the car; stupidly the key was in the on position when I connected the battery (that can't be good). It cranked and cranked but would not fire. Note that I hadn't done anything except disconnect and reconnect the battery; albeit with the switch ON.
I then searched on here again for a possible reason and found that if the security light stays on while cranking that the Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System (NVIS/NATS) is locked. I went out to try to start it again and sure enough, the light is on when the car is in the ON position. So I tried the procedure here:

to try to get it out of lock. No luck.
None of my keys work. I have disconnected the battery again, to see if it will start in the morning after being disconnected all night, but I am not hopeful. I fear that I may have blown the ECM or something by connecting the battery with the car ON
.
HELP!!!
P.S. Sorry to hijack the thread, but I don't have 15 posts to start a new thread. This thread seemed closely related to my problem. I did get a PO171

I've driven the car yesterday and when you stomp on it the car ping and take forever to accelerate, I'm going to check at the local junckyard to see if I can buy a 2k MAF for cheap just to see if that cure my cousins problem.

They think that it was probably just coincidence that it failed now; not anything that I did.
