Is that what they install as part of the "Data Dots" TSB? My headlights have a couple of DataDots stickers on them...

Yes, the datadots and the brackets are the part of the TSB, and apparently they offered the TSB only to the areas that had a high HID theft rate. I got the kit installed from the TSB but not before the lights were stolen once.

Do you have to be the original owner to get these brakets installed?

I just bought an 02, and live in Northern NJ. (Meaning these get stolen often)

Thanks

What do the datadots look like? Are they actual stickers or markings done with marker?

TSB's are not generally free. Did Nissan voluntarily fix these due to the number of thefts? I recall a possible lawsuit becuase of it as well.

Not understanding how it was free without it being posted as a recall.

The Data Dots themselves is a glue like substance containing thousands of particles with a serial number printed on those particles. It's applied to the lights and another part of your car such as inside the door area. You can actually see these numbers through a high power magnifying glass. The idea is to provide a link between your car and the lights so if the thieves are ever caught, they can match it up to your car by comparing the numbers. That, in conjunction with the brackets anchoring the lights to the frame of the car was offered free to all Northeast 5.5th Gen Maxima owners. You can tell a car has had the recall done because Data Dot stickers are placed on the sides of the headlights as well as the front windows. Has it worked? I have yet to find data supporting yes or no.

I just picked mine up, and it looks like the recall was done on mine. However, I cant find the ballast. I've been hearing its been relocated away from the headlight itself.
