Headlight Covers?

I've not seen any 5th gen maximas with headlight covers... didn't know how it looked. I had smoked headlight covers on my 89 max... and really liked the way it looked. If anyone knows of some pictures... it would be greatly appreciated.

TO EACH THEIR OWN MAN... DO WHAT YOU WANT REGARDLESS.

This is the headlight tint, comes in smoke, charcoal, blue and yellow. It's on ebay but you'll have to buy the sheet. Heat it up and stretch it to fit, really easy to work with. I am changing mine to smoke.

IMO those smoked plastic headlight covers went "out." They are soooo 80s. They look right on an 89 maxima, since it's an '80s car Not so much on a new one.

You can also buy this kind of sheeting from www.lamin-x.com, though the site seems to be down at the moment

The yellow actually looks pretty good on those lights, by the way. What's going on with your hood? Some kind of scoop?

They are scoops that I had painted to match and put on. It was done when I got my car repainted. When I shopped on ebay for my headlight tint that's who the seller was Lamin-X. Be in mind the pre-cut set they have doesn't fit for some reason it's too small.

Thanks for your comments. Yea... I figured that the covers wouldn't look right... that's why I was trying to find a picture... so that I didn't waste $50 on somethin I don't like... The LaminX does look pretty good... I assume you don't have to do the whole oven thing do you? Because I took my headlights apart once and REALLY don't want to again. How bad will charcoal Lamin-x affect the output of my stock halogen though Also..l my headlights will need a serious cleanup... like the whole sandpaper deal... because I've not cleaned my car in a long time Thanks for the help.

I notice in your avatar you have the ebay projectors....I hope you're not planning on tinting those.....the light output on them is bad enough as it is!

Actually I sent those headlights back to CustomMaxima because of fitment issues (talk about a pain in the ***).... So now I'm back to stockers that I did the AE mod too.

You don't have to put the lights back in the oven.

Lamin-X sells the covers pre-cut and by the sheet. Get the sheet because the pre-cut will not fit. You take the sheet heat it up a little or do it in the blazing sun. Do your headlight from the inside out as if you were working with tint. Spraying it down...etc. Once you stretch it from left to right you can pull the top and bottom to get the lines out. Then squeegy the **** to death for the air bubbles. There will be air bubbles for a couple of days because of the water evap. Extremely easy to work with.

No all you have to do to take them off is heat it back up and pull it off. If you don't heat it up it will leave glue residue.

Not quite '80's. I'd say more mid-late 90's, Josh. Because I actually had the GTS smoked headlight and tail light covers on my '93 Nissan truck back in the day. OMG, I can't believe I did that.

The yellow doesn't look that bad however I like the clean clear look. Especially if you got the 02-03's with the HID's. Don't need the smoke or tinted look. Just upgrade your 2000 headlights to HIDS if you don't have them already.

IMO, darker housings look better than covers. So if you have a 00-01, the AE mod looks good. 00-02, black housings except for the chrome rings around the reflectors look bada$$.

I had an extra plastic headlight lens that I was gonna throw away. I painted it black to see what it would look like on my car.

Go with the film man... It doesn't affect the light output at all and it's easy to work with. Stay away from the hard plastic thing man... just looks cheap imo.

Well I had a thread about this... back on page four now.

Here are some pics of it smoked out with the same tint. It doesn't effect the light output at all considering that the hids are very bright.

Before you say it... the side markers are already smoked out too, I just posted the pics after I did the headlights.

Tint doesn't look bad but the light output from our 2k2 hids is not that bright as HID's go.

that makes no sense. How do you know they're nice if you've never seen them?
